The Directorate General of Resettlement, Department of Ex-Servicemen Welfare, Ministry of Defence has successfully organised a Job Fair for ESM of Armed Forces on Friday at Ahmedabad Military Station, Ahmedabad to bring ESM/retiring personnel seeking employment opportunities and the Corporate entities on a common platform.

“The event received an overwhelming response from the ESM from Ahmedabad & nearby regions. 1,100 plus ESM from Army, Navy and Airforce registered for seeking employment & turned up for the event. 70 companies registered while 50 companies physically participated in the Job Fair offering 1,000 plus Job Vacancies,” a Defence release said.

The shortlisted ESM would be interviewed/screened and subsequently employed in various roles ranging from Supervisory, Technical support, junior to senior Management, Administration & Directors.

The event was beneficial for both Corporates and the ESM.  While the ESM got a platform to showcase their technical and administrative prowess acquired during their years in service, the Corporates benefitted by screening the pool of experienced, disciplined and skilled ESM, the statement said.

The Job Fair saw representation from reputed national & multinational Corporate entities.

Maj Gen Gaurav Bagga, GOC 11 RAPID along with Cmde Vikrant Kishore, Principal Director, DGR addressed the gathering of ESM & Corporate representatives.

Vimal Ambani, Past Chairman CII, Gujarat State Council and CEO & MD, Tower Overseas Ltd addressed the gathering as the Corporate Guest of Honour.

Himanshu Patel, Senior VP, Vadodara Chamber of Commerce & Industry; Apurva Shah, Senior Vice President of GCCI,; Pathik Patwari, Director, Nexus Group & past president GCCI; Col Vijay Pandey, Head of Security, Adani Power & AESL were also present during the event

The Job Fair is a key initiative under DGR’s resettlement programs, aimed at providing second career opportunities to Ex-Servicemen, ensuring a smooth transition from military to civilian life. The success of this event reaffirms the commitment of the Ministry of Defence and corporate partners in harnessing the immense potential of India’s veteran community.
