Since imposition of lock down, the Indian Army has been continuously making an endeavour to reach out to the poor and downtrodden through its Army Wives Welfare Association by providing essential relief material including cooked meals, water, groceries and hygiene kits etc.
The Indian Army provided 1000 packets of ready to eat meal besides educating on the importance of maintaining hygiene and sanitation to prevent the spread of COVID 19, with the help of civil administration in Wellington, Coonoor and Trichy on Friday.
In addition, a SOS call was received from Irula Tribal Community residing 60 Kms from Ooty for providing them with essential groceries and food which was promptly responded by the Indian Army by mobilising a relief column and provided them ready to eat meals, water and groceries in excess of approx 1000 Kgs in form of Atta, Rice, Dal, Oil etc for sustenance to about 100 families of Irula Community in concert with Civil Administration and the local Police.
The Dakshin Bharat Area continues its resolve to combat COVID 19 in concert with Civil Administration and reach out to the maximum number of needy people by providing them essentials including groceries and hygiene kits upholding the ethos of Indian Army’s “Service Before Self”.
