The Ahmedabad Cantonment Military Station on Tuesday organized a mass cleanliness drive, drawing enthusiastic participation from over 1,400 soldiers, students, NCC cadets and Swachhta Warriors.

The event began with a green pledge, where participants committed to reducing plastic use, adopting net-zero waste practices, and promoting sustainable lifestyles. Station Commander, Ahmedabad Cantonment, flagged off a three-kilometre Walkathon to spread awareness on eco-friendly living, particularly among the youth.

Adding further value, Hardik Shah, Founder of Recycle.Green, delivered an insightful talk on circular economy practices and waste management. To encourage sustainable habits, children from participating schools were gifted pens and pencils made from recycled waste, an initiative by Recycle.Green.

PM Modi’s call for collective action

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi urged citizens across the country to join the “Swachhta Hi Sewa” campaign, describing it as a reflection of collective responsibility and national pride.

In a message shared on X (formerly Twitter), the Prime Minister said:
“स्वच्छता से जुड़ी यह पहल बहुत उत्साहित करने वाली है। मेरा आह्वान है कि अधिक से अधिक लोग इस अभियान से जुड़ें और इसे सफल बनाएं।”

The message, accompanied by the official campaign link — swachhatahiseva.gov.in — highlighted his vision of people’s participation as the key driver for the success of the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan.

A Strong Step Towards Swachh Bharat Goals

The Ahmedabad Cantonment programme not only reinforced the Prime Minister’s message but also showcased the Army’s deep commitment to national cleanliness goals. With active involvement from students, NCC cadets and environmental startups, the event exemplified how grassroots action and citizen participation can power the vision of a cleaner, greener India.
