Renowned artist Anil Shah, who began his creative journey as a staff artist with The Indian Express (Gujarat Edition), is set to mark a remarkable milestone — 50 years of artistic pursuit — through a special retrospective exhibition titled “The Golden Journey.”

The exhibition, tracing Shah’s artistic evolution from 1975 to 2025, will be held from October 14 to 19 at Amdavad Ni Gufa, opposite Gujarat University, Navrangpura, Ahmedabad.
The exhibition will be inaugurated on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, at 5:00 pm by eminent poet and artist Madhav Ramanuj, in the presence of Arvind Vakani, General Secretary, Gujarat Visual Artists Association; B.R. Prajapati, President, Gujarat Journalists Union; and noted artist Mahendra Mistry.

Open to art lovers and the public every evening between 4 hours and 8 hours, the show offers a vibrant window into Shah’s creative odyssey — from his early sketches and editorial illustrations to his more recent explorations of colour, form, and emotion.
“The exhibition is not just a showcase of my paintings, but a reflection of the times and transitions I have witnessed over five decades,” says Anil Shah, whose works often mirror social change and the evolving aesthetics of Gujarat’s art scene.
Visitors can expect to experience a thoughtful curation that blends nostalgia with new expressions — a dialogue between past and present, realism and abstraction, memory and imagination.
Art enthusiasts, fellow journalists, and Shah’s contemporaries are expected to attend the inaugural evening, making it a celebration not only of one artist’s journey but also of Gujarat’s enduring art heritage.
