Marking a major advancement in surgical innovation, Erbe Elektromedizin GmbH has launched its latest breakthrough — the VIO® seal, the first-ever electrosurgical generator in the VIO® family fully dedicated to bipolar applications. The launch took place during the 35th National Conference of the Indian Association of Surgical Gastroenterology (IASGCON 2025) in Chennai, unveiled by Dr. C. Palanivelu, Chairman, GEM Hospital.
- New-generation VIO® seal offers advanced vessel sealing, faster recovery, and optimized surgical control — hailed by experts as a “game-changer” for modern healthcare
- GEM Hospital Chairman by Dr. C. Palanivelu inaugurates it at the 35th National Conference of the Indian Association of Surgical Gastroenterology (IASGCON 2025) in Chennai on Friday
- We’ve already seen outstanding results with the new technology in over 50 surgeries, ranging from oncological to complex abdominal procedures: Dr. P. Senthilnathan
The VIO® seal integrates advanced bipolar technology for precise vessel sealing and dissection, offering surgeons superior control, faster performance, and improved patient safety. It represents a new era in electrosurgery — combining efficacy, versatility, and precision across various surgical disciplines.
Next-Generation Technology for Smarter Surgery
The VIO® seal stands apart as a stand-alone generator that supports the complete range of standard bipolar instruments, as well as Erbe’s latest TriSect Rapide® dissector and BiClamp® vessel sealing system.
Key highlights include:
- Mode-specific energy delivery (thermoSECT, biCLAMP®, and thermoSEAL®) for reliable, tissue-tailored performance.
- Simultaneous bipolar activation when paired with another VIO® generator — enhancing procedural efficiency and enabling co-surgeon techniques.
- Streamlined workflows that minimize operative time while maintaining consistency and safety in outcomes.
A Leap Forward in Surgical Precision and Patient Care
“The VIO® seal empowers surgeons with a tool that balances speed, precision, and safety — all in one system,” said Pranshu Abhishek, Head of Marketing, Erbe India.
“After more than 100 years of electrosurgery and over 100,000 VIO® generators sold, Erbe is proud to introduce the next generation — the VIO® seal. This innovation brings the proven VIO® 3 operating concept into a new technological era, designed for diverse medical specialties. The new systems will soon be available in India.”
The TriSect Rapide® instrument, compatible with the VIO® seal, combines dissection, sealing, and coagulation functions in one device — enabling faster surgeries, reduced thermal impact, and enhanced patient recovery.
Surgeons Applaud Clinical Impact
Dr. P. Senthilnathan, Director of GEM Hospital, Chennai, praised the new technology for transforming surgical practice: “The Erbe TriSect Rapide® is a game-changer for us as surgeons. It integrates three essential functions into a single, seamless tool, which not only improves the efficiency of surgeries but also helps reduce the overall time a patient spends in the operating room. This ultimately leads to quicker recovery times and better outcomes for our patients.”
Sharing clinical insights, Dr. Senthilnathan further added: “We’ve already seen outstanding results with the new technology in over 50 surgeries, ranging from oncological to complex abdominal procedures. The ability to seamlessly perform dissection, sealing, and coagulation with one instrument gives us greater confidence and control, ensuring the best possible outcomes for our patients.”
Driving the Future of Healthcare Innovation
The launch of the VIO® seal underscores Erbe’s century-long commitment to pioneering surgical technologies that enhance clinical precision and improve patient care. With this innovation, Erbe strengthens its role as a global leader in intelligent electrosurgery, empowering surgeons to achieve safer, faster, and more effective results in the operating room.
