Vipin Kumar, IRSE (1988 batch), has assumed charge as the new Additional General Manager (AGM) of Southern Railway on Monday, 13th October 2025, succeeding Kaushal Kishore, who superannuated in August 2025.

An accomplished railway engineer and administrator, Vipin Kumar joined the Indian Railway Service of Engineers (IRSE) in 1988. Over a distinguished career spanning more than three decades, he has served across multiple zones including South Central, Northern, South Western, South Eastern, Eastern, and North Central Railways, leading several high-impact infrastructure projects encompassing railways, metros, highways, and tunnels.

Prior to this appointment, he held the position of Chief Administrative Officer (Construction), North Central Railway. He has also served as Senior Deputy General Manager (SDGM), Eastern Railway, and Principal Chief Engineer, Rail Wheel Factory, Bengaluru.
A graduate of Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology (MNNIT), Allahabad, Shri Vipin Kumar holds a postgraduate degree in Computer Science from IIT Delhi, reflecting a unique blend of technical expertise and management acumen.
His leadership is expected to play a pivotal role in accelerating Southern Railway’s modernization, infrastructure augmentation, and safety initiatives, aligning with Indian Railways’ broader vision for sustainable growth and efficiency.
