In a stellar achievement, three students from the Department of Civil Engineering at the Institute of Infrastructure, Technology, Research and Management (IITRAM), Ahmedabad, have won First Prize in the University Challenge India held during IFAT India 2025 in Mumbai on October 15–16, 2025.
The winning team — Ajaat Kaushikeya, Advika Verma, and Aaditya Aaryan — all third-year Civil Engineering students, competed against participants from seven leading engineering institutions across India. The University Challenge India, organized as part of IFAT India, is one of the country’s most prestigious student competitions promoting innovative and sustainable solutions in water, wastewater, and environmental management.
As part of their recognition, the trio will represent India at the Young Water Professionals Programme, to be held from May 4–7, 2026, in Munich, Germany, with full sponsorship.

Expressing immense pride in the achievement, Prof. (Dr.) Dr Jaidevi Jeyaraman, Head of the Department of Civil Engineering, said, “Our students have once again demonstrated that creativity, curiosity, and collaboration can solve the toughest global challenges. Their success reflects IITRAM’s strong foundation in research-based learning and our vision to nurture socially responsible engineers.”
Congratulating the winners, Prof. (Dr.) P.K. Jain-, Director-General, IITRAM, remarked, “This victory is not just a personal triumph for the students but a proud milestone for IITRAM. It showcases the spirit of innovation and problem-solving that our young engineers bring to the global stage. We are confident that their representation in Munich will further strengthen India’s voice in sustainable infrastructure and water resource management.”
IITRAM officials noted that this achievement underscores the institute’s growing focus on practical, research-driven education and its mission to contribute to global sustainability efforts.
The award-winning performance of the students and their forthcoming participation in an international forum reaffirm IITRAM’s role as a hub for engineering excellence, innovation, and global collaboration.
