MUMBAI, OCT 26

Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd. (APSEZ) — India’s largest port developer and operator — is steering India’s maritime renaissance with a powerful showcase of innovation, inclusion and sustainability at India Maritime Week (IMW) 2025, being held at the Bombay Exhibition Centre, Mumbai, from October 27–31.

Organised by the Indian Ports Association under the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, IMW 2025 convenes over one lakh delegates, 500 exhibitors, 200 international speakers and participants from more than 100 countries to define the next chapter of the global maritime economy.

At the heart of this international forum stands APSEZ, embodying India’s Blue Economy vision through technology-led transformation, women empowerment and Make-in-India innovation. Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit on October 29, followed by the Global Maritime CEO Forum, is expected to highlight India’s growing maritime leadership.

From a single port in Mundra in the 1990s to a 15-port network across India and four overseas assets, APSEZ now handles nearly a quarter of India’s total cargo, supported by 12 multimodal logistics parks, 132 rakes and a fleet of over 5,000 vehicles — representing India’s largest integrated transport utility.

At IMW 2025, the APSEZ Pavilion centres on four pillars — Aatmanirbhar Bharat, Women Empowerment, AI-powered Logistics, and Impact. A key highlight will be multiple long-term MoUs that strengthen India’s Make-in-India marine and dredging capabilities:

  • With Mumbai Port Authority for six ASTDS tugs (7 years) and one Green Tug (15 years).
  • With VO Chidambaranar Port Authority, Tuticorin, for two harbour tugs (7 years).
  • With Chennai Port Authority for one 60 TBP Escort Tug Vessel.
  • With Directorate General of Shipping for building 12 indigenous tugboats, to be signed in the presence of PM Modi.
  • An additional MoU for a self-propelled grab dredger marks a new milestone in domestic maritime engineering.

Further MoUs cover new developments at Vadhvan, Haldia, Dighi, and Vizhinjam LNG bunkering, reinforcing APSEZ’s role in port capacity creation and green infrastructure.

The company will also unveil India’s first Trailing Suction Hopper Dredger (TSHD) simulator, indigenously developed under the Make-in-India initiative, marking a leap in maritime simulation and training capabilities.

At Vizhinjam Port, India’s first transshipment hub, APSEZ has broken barriers by training the nation’s first women quay crane operators, exemplifying gender inclusion in a sector traditionally dominated by men.

Through its Zero Touch Multi-Modal Logistics Platform, APSEZ integrates port, rail, road and inland waterways using AI-driven analytics, lowering logistics costs and boosting trade competitiveness. Its Adani Skills & Education (ASE) initiative has trained over 8,000 youth with 100% employment, while its Karma Shiksha diploma in Ports & Logistics stands as India’s first NCVET-accredited industry programme.

Contributing nearly 4% to India’s GDP, the Blue Economy spans fisheries, renewable energy, coastal tourism and logistics. With 100% FDI in port infrastructure and policies like the Green Tug Transition Programme (GTTP) and Harit Sagar Guidelines, India is charting a course toward sustainable maritime growth — a journey in which APSEZ plays a defining role.

With global operations across Haifa (Israel), Colombo (Sri Lanka), Queensland (Australia) and Dar es Salaam (Tanzania), APSEZ is advancing India’s SAGAR Vision — Security and Growth for All in the Region — and reinforcing the nation’s emergence as the voice of the Global South in the Decade of the Seas.
