AHMEDABAD, NOV 10

In a heartwarming tribute to integrity and service, the Mithila community of Gujarat organised a grand ‘Mithila Samman Sammelan’ in Ahmedabad on Sunday evening to honour Gujarat Chief Secretary M.K. Das, IAS, for his promotion and outstanding administrative leadership.

The felicitation was carried out in true Mithila tradition — with a dhoti, kurta, shawl, ceremonial headgear (pag), and floral bouquet — symbolising respect and affection. Prominent members of the Maithil Samanvay Foundation, Vadodara, and delegates from across Gujarat graced the occasion.

Leading the community representatives were P.K. Jha, Vidhan Jha, and Praveen Jha, who lauded Das’s contributions to good governance and inclusive development in the state.

Addressing the gathering, M.K. Das expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Mithila community for their affection and recognition. Reflecting on his over three decades of administrative service, he shared insights into Gujarat’s journey of transformation in governance, industrial growth, and social inclusiveness.

“The pillars of successful administration are transparency, integrity, and accountability to the people,” Das said, recalling key reforms he implemented in industrial policy, investment facilitation, MSME empowerment, skill development, and governance innovation.

Reconnecting with his roots, Das said the culture and values of Mithila have always guided his work and life.

“The humility, educational spirit, and sense of community of the Mithila tradition continue to inspire me. I urge the youth to preserve our heritage while contributing meaningfully to nation-building,” he added.

The event, attended by a large number of Maithil families from Ahmedabad, Vadodara, and other parts of Gujarat, concluded with cultural performances and a felicitation ceremony celebrating unity, heritage, and service.
