CHENNAI, NOV 13
In a moving celebration of Children’s Day, Apollo Children’s Hospital, in collaboration with the Apollo Shine Foundation, unveiled a first-of-its-kind initiative titled “Happy Hearts” — a unique program that connects school students with young patients through letters, songs, and shared moments of joy. The initiative celebrates the power of compassion, turning care into connection and transforming hospital corridors into spaces of laughter, empathy, and healing.
- A joyful bridge between classrooms and hospital rooms to celebrate Children’s Day
- Students spread cheer, letters, and love to young patients through a heartfelt ‘Wish Wall’
- A movement to heal through empathy, laughter, and the spirit of togetherness
Where Healing Meets Humanity
The Happy Hearts Program is designed to nurture emotional well-being among paediatric patients by encouraging students to engage with them through letters of hope, handmade cards, and creative activities. The highlight of the event — a vibrant “Wish Wall” at Apollo Children’s Hospital — now displays touching notes and colorful drawings from over 10 schools across Chennai, each one carrying a message of courage and kindness.
The hospital came alive with cheerful energy as students interacted with young patients, sharing smiles, stories, and songs. The wards echoed with laughter, poetry, and heartfelt conversations — a reminder that healing is as much about the mind and heart as it is about medicine.
Inspiring Compassion, One Child at a Time
The event was graced by Shobha Viswanath, Director of Karadi Tales, and Neha Girish, Vijay TV Junior Super Singer, whose presence added warmth and inspiration to the day. Their words and performances encouraged the children to dream, express, and believe in the brighter days ahead.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Ilankumaran Kaliamoorthy, said, “At Apollo Children’s Hospital, we have always believed that true healing extends beyond medicine — it blossoms through empathy, connection, and care. With Happy Hearts, we are building a bridge between students and young patients, creating moments of shared joy and understanding. This initiative will soon reach across all Apollo Hospitals in Chennai, nurturing a culture of kindness and emotional healing for every child.”
Spreading Smiles, Strengthening Spirits
The launch of Happy Hearts marks the beginning of a city-wide movement encouraging schools to partner with hospitals, fostering a new generation of empathetic citizens. Through regular visits, letters, and creative interactions, the initiative aims to remind every child — whether in school or in hospital — that they are part of a larger circle of care, courage, and compassion.
With Happy Hearts, Apollo Children’s Hospital once again reaffirms its commitment to holistic healing — celebrating not just recovery, but resilience, community, and the joy of giving.
