Swarrnim Science College, affiliated with Swarrnim Startup & Innovation University, organised a guest lecture on Financial Literacy for undergraduate students of Semester I, III and V at its campus near Adalaj. The session saw enthusiastic participation from 73 students, who engaged in discussions on everyday banking, digital transactions and financial discipline.
The lecture was delivered by Anil Purohit, Counsellor, Financial Literacy & Credit Counselling Centre, State Bank of India (Gandhinagar). Through real-life examples, he explained essential banking practices, the structure of various bank accounts, and the functioning of digital payment systems. A major focus of the session was safe online banking—with practical tips on identifying and avoiding digital frauds.
Coordinated by Dr. Shefal Vaghela, Assistant Professor and Faculty Coordinator, the session aimed at strengthening students’ foundational understanding of banking, promoting responsible money management and raising awareness about cyber safety.

Students actively participated in an interactive Q&A segment, discussing concerns related to digital payments, cyber hygiene and basic financial planning.
Speaking about the initiative, Shri Adi Rishabh Jain, Vice President, Swarrnim Startup & Innovation University, said, “Mr. Purohit provided clear, practical insights on secure digital banking. The session was well-received and played an important role in enhancing students’ financial awareness in an increasingly digital world.”
The event significantly boosted students’ confidence in handling digital transactions and reinforced the importance of financial discipline and cyber-secure behaviour—a crucial skill set for young learners navigating today’s digital economy.
