In a significant move aimed at reshaping India’s coaching and high-performance landscape, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has invited applications for the prestigious position of Head – Cricket Education at its state-of-the-art Centre of Excellence (COE) in Bengaluru. The full-time role, open to candidates up to 58 years of age, is central to BCCI’s strategic blueprint to develop a world-class cricket education ecosystem.
The Head – Cricket Education will be responsible for designing, delivering and continually upgrading cricket and sports-science education programmes that cater to coaches, athletes, state academies and India’s high-performance structures. The role will spearhead BCCI’s national coaching curriculum, ensuring that India’s coaching standards evolve in line with global high-performance benchmarks.
Key responsibilities include:
- Planning, implementing and reviewing Level A, B and C coaching courses and nationwide refresher programmes.
- Leveraging cutting-edge tools such as athlete management systems, video analytics, GPS tracking and wearable technology for performance insights.
- Collaborating with the Head Cricket, COE on online learning, advanced coaching modules and blended-education initiatives.
- Overseeing coach re-accreditation, documentation of coaching content and quality control of all education programmes.
- Working closely with BCCI’s Umpires Panel and Head Curator on specialised seminars, examinations and capability-building workshops.
- Assisting with coach-intake processes for the COE, Zonal Cricket Academies and specialist camps.
- Evaluating suspect bowling actions referred to the COE and presenting evidence-based findings to BCCI committees.
The ideal candidate must have a proven record in cricket-education development, be an active Level-3 coach (or higher) and possess substantial experience working with elite athletes. International coaching or playing exposure will be an advantage. Strong communication skills, high integrity, leadership ability, expertise in player-progress tracking, and familiarity with high-performance systems are essential. A minimum of five years’ experience working at the elite level is mandatory.
