The Indian Navy marked Navy Day with solemn pride and patriotic fervour at the Victory War Memorial in Chennai, honouring the courage and sacrifice of India’s Armed Forces. A wreath-laying ceremony formed the heart of the observance, paying homage to the brave personnel who laid down their lives in the defence of the nation.

Lt Gen V Sreehari, General Officer Commanding Dakshin Bharat Area, and Rear Admiral Satish Shenai, Flag Officer Commanding Tamil Nadu and Puducherry Area, led the ceremony by placing wreaths in tribute to the fallen heroes.

The commemoration witnessed the participation of senior officers, veterans, NCC cadets, school students, and personnel from the Indian Navy, Army, Air Force and Coast Guard, along with their families—reflecting a unified spirit of respect and national pride.
Navy Day celebrates the Indian Navy’s decisive victory in the 1971 Indo-Pak War and underscores the dedication, bravery and unwavering commitment of naval personnel who continue to safeguard the nation’s maritime frontiers.
