In a major innovation aimed at reshaping health insurance consumption in India, Galaxy Health Insurance, the country’s youngest standalone health insurer, has unveiled ‘Galaxy Twin 360’, India’s first integrated IPD + OPD health insurance plan designed to improve long-term adoption and policy retention, especially among young adults.
Promoted by the TVS Family led by Mr Venu Srinivasan and the family of insurance industry veteran Mr V. Jagannathan, Galaxy Health Insurance said the new offering directly addresses a key behavioural challenge in the sector—policyholders discontinuing coverage due to the lack of visible value in years without hospitalisation.
Closing the OPD–IPD Value Gap
Urban Indians spend an estimated ₹15,000–₹20,000 annually on outpatient (OPD) services such as doctor consultations, diagnostics and pharmacy purchases. Yet, conventional health insurance largely covers only hospitalisation, leading many young policyholders to perceive premiums as sunk costs.
- First-of-Its-Kind Health Cover Integrating Hospitalisation, OPD and Wellness in One Plan
- Designed for Young Adults to Drive Long-Term Health Insurance Adoption and Retention
- OPD Benefits Equal to Premium Paid Ensure Tangible Healthcare Value Every Year
- Blending Preventive Wellness, Digital Tools and Comprehensive IPD Protection
- Backed by TVS Family, Galaxy Targets ‘Health Insurance for All by 2047’ Vision
Galaxy Twin 360 changes this equation by offering OPD benefits equal to the premium paid, ensuring customers receive tangible healthcare value every year—irrespective of hospitalisation claims. This structure is expected to significantly boost renewals, long-term engagement and insurance penetration in the 18–45 age segment.
‘Insurance Should Be Useful Every Day’
Explaining the philosophy behind the product, Mr G. Srinivasan, Managing Director & CEO, Galaxy Health Insurance, said:
“Galaxy Twin 360 is built on a simple idea—health insurance should be useful every day, not only during hospitalisation. Young adults often discontinue coverage because they don’t see value when no claim is made. By combining IPD protection, OPD benefits, preventive wellness services and digital health tools, Galaxy Twin 360 makes insurance relevant, practical and financially efficient throughout the year.”
Replying to queries, Mr Srinivasan said that the claim settlements are managed by the in-house settlement team at the earliest. Since inception the Galaxy Health Insurance has settled 1500 claims to the tune of Rs. 8.6 crores.
The company is contemplating on introducting a travel insurance policy very soon, the team is working on that, he added.
Comprehensive Coverage with Wellness at the Core
Galaxy Twin 360 is available in three variants—Core, Max and Ultra—and is designed for adults aged 18–45 years, with coverage extended to children from 91 days up to 25 years. The plan can be purchased as an Individual or Floater policy (up to two adults and three children), with guaranteed renewal beyond 45 years.
In addition to robust inpatient (IPD) coverage with sum insured options ranging from ₹7.5 lakh to ₹35 lakh, the plan offers extensive OPD coverage including unlimited teleconsultations, in-clinic doctor visits, prescribed diagnostics and pharmacy expenses, dental and vision care, vaccinations, mental wellness, physiotherapy, nutrition support and annual health check-ups.
Premium Flexibility and Rich IPD Features
The product includes any-room hospitalisation, coverage for 71 consumables, no co-payment, and a cumulative bonus of up to 200%. Advanced treatments such as AYUSH therapies, bariatric surgery, organ transplantation, delivery benefits, automatic restoration and newborn cover are also included.
Policyholders benefit from premium flexibility through monthly, quarterly, half-yearly or annual payment options, long-term discounts of up to 15%, a 5% online discount, and up to 20% renewal discount through the Gala Fit-Pro Active Care wellness programme.
Rapid Growth and Long-Term Vision
Within its first year of operations, Galaxy Health Insurance has built a distribution network of over 15,000 agents and insured more than 3.47 lakh lives across India. Its growing product portfolio includes Galaxy Promise, a comprehensive family health plan, and Galaxy Marvel, a customisable insurance solution.
With Galaxy Twin 360, the insurer aims to make health insurance accessible, technology-driven and value-centric, while aligning with the national aspiration of ‘Health Insurance for All by 2047’.
