High-Speed Stability, Safety and Performance Validated
During the trial, the 16-coach Vande Bharat Sleeper rake underwent comprehensive technical evaluation, including checks on ride stability, vibration and oscillation behaviour, braking efficiency, emergency braking systems, and onboard safety mechanisms.
The train’s performance across all parameters was found to be fully satisfactory at high speeds, leading to the CRS declaring the trial successful.
A water-glass stability demonstration conducted during the run—where glasses filled with water remained steady without spillage even at 180 kmph—visually underscored the advanced suspension system, superior ride comfort and engineering precision of the new-generation trainset.
Designed for Long-Distance, Overnight Travel
Unlike the existing chair-car Vande Bharat services, the Vande Bharat Sleeper Train is purpose-built for overnight and long-haul journeys, combining speed with comfort and safety.
The 16-coach configuration features ergonomically designed sleeper berths, wider sealed gangways, automatic plug doors, modern toilets, and advanced passenger information systems—aimed at delivering a world-class travel experience comparable with global high-speed sleeper trains.
State-of-the-Art Safety and Passenger-Centric Features
Key technological and safety features of the Vande Bharat Sleeper Train include:
- KAVACH automatic train protection system
- Crashworthy, jerk-free semi-permanent couplers with anti-climbers
- Fire barrier doors at the end of every coach
- Aerosol-based fire detection and suppression systems in electrical cabinets and lavatories
- Regenerative braking for improved energy efficiency
- Air-conditioning units with indigenous UV-C lamp-based air disinfection
- Centrally controlled automatic plug doors
