India Post has taken a decisive step towards redefining citizen services for the digital age with the inauguration of Ahmedabad’s first N-GEN (Next GEN) themed, revamped Post Office at IIM Ahmedabad on January 2, 2026. The initiative reflects India Post’s broader transformation from a traditional postal network into a modern, technology-enabled and youth-centric service ecosystem.

The N-GEN Post Office at IIM Ahmedabad was inaugurated by Ganesh V. Sawaleshwarkar, Chief Postmaster General, Gujarat Circle; Bharat Bhasker, Director, IIM Ahmedabad; and Krishna Kumar Yadav, Postmaster General, North Gujarat Region.
Speaking on the occasion, Ganesh V. Sawaleshwarkar said the IIM Ahmedabad Post Office has been redesigned to align with the aspirations and lifestyle of the new generation.
“This N-GEN Post Office has evolved into a vibrant hangout-cum-service centre with a youthful, attractive and modern look. It represents a transformative shift in citizen service delivery, especially for students, youth and digital natives,” he said.
The revamped facility goes well beyond conventional postal services. Along with core India Post offerings, the Post Office now provides Wi-Fi connectivity, a cafeteria, a mini library, youth-friendly seating spaces, indoor games, and digital payment facilities through POS and QR codes, making it an engaging on-campus destination.
Bharat Bhasker, Director of IIM Ahmedabad, described the N-GEN Post Office initiative as both visionary and timely.
“This modern, technology-enabled Post Office will be of immense benefit to IIM Ahmedabad students. The involvement of students in designing the space makes it even more relevant and future-ready,” he said.
Highlighting the expanded range of services, Krishna Kumar Yadav said the N-GEN Post Office has been designed specifically to meet the needs of students and young users.
“Facilities include digital payments, a special 10 percent discount on Speed Post and Parcel services for students, Gyan Post, parcel packaging services, Aadhaar services, philately, savings schemes, Postal Life Insurance and IPPB financial services,” he said.
Students of IIM Ahmedabad who actively contributed to designing the N-GEN themed Post Office were felicitated during the event. The facility has been co-created by students and India Post, following the philosophy of ‘Of the students, by the students, for the students’, seamlessly blending campus culture, youthful creativity and digital services.
The IIM Ahmedabad Post Office is Gujarat’s second N-GEN themed Post Office, following the inauguration of the IIT Gandhinagar Post Office on December 5, 2025. The transformation is part of a national initiative to revamp 46 Post Offices located within educational campuses, with 54 more set to be included in the coming year.
Through innovation, digital integration and engaging design, India Post aims to build a direct, meaningful and sustainable connection with the next generation, making postal services more accessible, relevant and future-ready.
Several senior officials, faculty members and students were present at the inauguration, marking a milestone in India Post’s campus-focused transformation journey.
