The Institute of Journalism & Communication (IJC) at Sardar Vallabhbhai Global University (SVGU) marked a vibrant milestone with the successful debut of its first Media Fest, ‘MedWhizz’, held on the university campus on January 6, 2026.

Drawing over 120 enthusiastic participants from schools, colleges and universities across Ahmedabad, the maiden edition unfolded as a dynamic celebration of media talent, creativity and youthful energy, setting a high benchmark for future editions.
Campus Buzzes with Creative Energy
Held in the presence of SVGU Provost Subhash Brahmbhatt, the fest came alive with students showcasing their skills across Media Quiz, Treasure Hunt, Spot Photography and Open Mic competitions. The campus resonated with enthusiasm as participants displayed confidence, spontaneity and originality throughout the day.

By the end of the event, winners and participants walked away smiling proudly with trophies and certificates, bringing laurels to their respective institutions and underlining the success of IJC’s maiden media initiative.
Wide Participation, Stellar Performances
Students from JG University, LJ University, SVG University, Shanti Business School, St. Xavier’s College, HK Arts College, Sahajanand College, Shreyas Foundation, HB Kapadia, Shri Sanjay Gandhi Vidhyapeeth Motera and Geneva Liberal School actively took part, making the fest a truly inter-institutional celebration.

The Open Mic segment saw confident performances that kept the audience engaged, with Ahmedabad’s well-known RJ Hardik adding to the electrifying atmosphere. Participants cracked clues with precision in the Treasure Hunt and demonstrated sharp awareness in the Media Quiz, tackling tricky questions with agility.
Spot Photography Steals the Spotlight
The Spot Photography contest emerged as one of the most captivating segments of MedWhizz. Participants captured the SVGU campus in vivid hues and unique perspectives, breathing life into frames through compelling compositions and thoughtful captions.

The creativity on display posed a delightful challenge for the expert jury comprising advertising and commercial photographer Aditi Anjaria and former AFP photojournalist Sam Panthaky, who found it a tough task to identify the winners.
A Promising Beginning for Media Fest at SVGU
Beyond competition, MedWhizz stood out as a celebration of creative expression without boundaries. The enthusiastic participation and heartfelt presentations received wide appreciation from judges, guests, dignitaries and the audience, reinforcing the importance of platforms that nurture emerging media talent.
All winners were felicitated with trophies and certificates by the respective judges and the provost. The event reaffirmed SVGU’s commitment to holistic education, blending academic excellence with creativity, cultural awareness and collaborative learning.
