AHMEDABAD, JAN 9
Ahmedabad is set to reaffirm its growing stature on the global medical map as Marengo CIMS Hospital hosts the 22nd Joint International Conference (JIC 2026) from January 9 to 11, 2026, marking over three decades of academic excellence, collaborative science and patient-centric learning.
Over the years, JIC has evolved from a conventional scientific meet into a powerful academic movement—one that bridges research, clinical practice and real-world patient care. The 2026 edition brings together leading national and international experts across disciplines to strengthen clinical decision-making and improve patient outcomes.
A Mission Rooted in Regional Upskilling
Kickstarting JIC 2026, Dr. Keyur Parikh, Chairman–Emeritus, JIC and Chairman, Marengo CIMS Hospital, said, “Aiming to upskill our medical fraternity in Gujarat and neighbouring states – Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra, we have been holding this annual conference since 2005.”
He explained that while live surgical demonstrations could not be conducted due to Supreme Court curbs, the learning experience has been preserved through innovation. “We could not hold any live demo of surgeries. However, we show the videos of patients and their views to the young medicos. As part of our knowledge sharing bid, we have been holding an interactive session of 15 minutes duration at the end of each session,” Dr. Parikh said.
He further added that JIC also aims to spread awareness on organ donation among the masses, reinforcing the conference’s commitment to public health alongside professional excellence.
Scientific Depth with Global Perspectives
The three-day conference features a comprehensive multi-specialty scientific programme covering cardiovascular sciences, internal medicine, cardiometabolic health, nephrology, neurology, infectious diseases, critical care, oncology and evolving therapies.
Focused symposia, satellite sessions, poster presentations, town hall meetings, workshops and patient–doctor engagement activities will offer delegates a dynamic learning ecosystem, complemented by masterclasses, resident challenges and procedural workshops.
Speaking on the vision of the conference, , Conference Chairman, said, “JIC has always stood for collaboration, curiosity, and clinical relevance. JIC 2026 is designed to inspire meaningful dialogue that leads to better clinical decision-making and improved patient outcomes.”
He also noted that “about eight international experts are taking part Dr. Anish Chandarana in this conference,” adding a strong global dimension to the scientific discourse.
Translating Knowledge into Clinical Practice
Highlighting the scientific rigour of the event, Dr. Tejas V. Patel, Chairman, Scientific Committee, stated, “The scientific framework of JIC 2026 reflects the realities of modern medicine—complex, multidisciplinary, and continuously evolving. Our objective is to ensure that learning from the conference translates directly into clinical practice.”
Dr. Patel also announced focused engagement for young doctors, saying, “There will be a special medical students’ session of one hour from 8 am to 10 am and a four-hour quiz competition from 9 am to 1 pm for medical students from Gujarat on Sunday. Best performers will be awarded prizes.”
Cardiac Care, Innovation and India’s Standing
Providing a national perspective, Dr. Milan Chag, Senior Interventional Cardiologist, said, “Southern States top in cardiac surgeries and Gujarat stands third in the country. Through this conference, we impart latest advancements in cardiology after undergoing advanced training in the USA.”
He further emphasised the pace of change in medicine, stating, “Medical science progresses so fast that it is impossible for physicians to remain updated. Our aim is to spread the state-of-the-art knowledge in every field of medicine to the delegates and through them help the society with the advancement in technology and treatment.”
Reflecting on the conference’s legacy, Dr. Keyur Parikh added, “Over the years since inception in 2005, JIC has evolved into a truly global academic platform that bridges research, clinical practice, and patient care, attended by many thousands of physicians, amongst the highest in Gujarat and Western India history.”
Advancing Healthcare Through Collaboration
Emphasising the broader healthcare impact, Dr. R. Shankaran, Unit Medical Director, Marengo CIMS Hospital, said, “Conferences like JIC play a pivotal role in advancing healthcare delivery by promoting innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning, ultimately enhancing patient outcomes.”
As JIC 2026 unfolds, it stands as a testament to Ahmedabad’s emergence as a centre of medical thought leadership—where science, collaboration and compassion converge to shape the future of healthcare.
