Ahmedabad’s literary circles are abuzz as Sanjay Lalbhai, Chairman & MD, Arvind Group, is set to formally launch “Where Lines Cross”—a compelling new novel authored by Arun Kaul—at Karnavati Club, Ahmedabad, at 11 am on Sunday. The event will also feature Umashankar Yadav, Founder-Director of Ahmedabad International Literature Festival,, among the guests of honour, promising a memorable morning for book lovers and literary enthusiasts.
Published by Notion Press, Where Lines Cross is Arun Kaul’s second book, and comes on the heels of his first published work, Only One Life To Give—a celebrated collection of real-life stories inspired by individuals who lived with compassion, honesty and dignity during their lives, drawing from the author’s own rich experiences as a defence veteran and humanist.
A Tale of Division, Resilience and Moral Conflict
Where Lines Cross—described as “a tribute to womanhood”—interweaves the lives of two families shaped by the turbulent partition of India and Pakistan. The narrative follows Phoolrani and Sona Jigri, who lose everything in the chaos, rebuild their lives with quiet strength, and see their sons’ worlds collide decades later. Inspired by stories of his great-grandfather, Dr. Arjun, one son pursues fame and success as a surgeon, while the other, Major Vijay, represents duty and conscience as an Indian Army officer. Against the backdrop of an Ebola outbreak, the novel poses profound questions about integrity, commercial ambition and moral choices.
This layered and evocative narrative marks a significant evolution from Kaul’s first non-fiction work, broadening his literary landscape from true tales of courage and dignity to fictional exploration of human conflict and resilience.
An Author with a Storied Journey
Arun Kaul brings to his writing a distinctive blend of military discipline, academic depth and real-world insight. A former Indian Air Force officer, he holds postgraduate credentials in Literature and Management, and after his service, has woven a rich career across HR leadership and healthcare sectors—experience that infuses his storytelling with authenticity and keen human insight.
His first book, Only One Life To Give, published in 2013, drew on real-life experiences of individuals exemplifying compassion—stories that aimed to inspire readers toward empathy, courage and moral purpose.
What to Expect at the Launch
The launch event promises a celebration not just of a book, but of ideas that resonate with history, humanity and hope. Guests can expect reflections on the craft of writing, conversations on literary themes, and insights into how personal and collective histories shape narrative imagination.
Book lovers from across the city and region are encouraged to attend the morning ceremony which is poised to be a highlight in Ahmedabad’s cultural calendar.
