Smt SR Mehta Arts College, a constituent of the Navgujarat Group of Colleges, Ahmedabad, organised a Poster-Making Competition on Road Safety as part of its National Service Scheme (NSS) activities at the Navgujarat Campus, Ashram Road. The initiative witnessed enthusiastic participation from around 25 students, who used creativity to communicate critical messages on road safety and civic responsibility.

The competition was designed to sensitise young minds and the wider community about the importance of disciplined and responsible behaviour on roads. Through bold colours, compelling imagery and thought-provoking slogans, students highlighted key issues such as traffic discipline, alertness, pedestrian safety and respect for traffic rules.

The event reflected the college’s larger educational vision of integrating social awareness with academic learning, encouraging students to engage with real-world issues and become responsible citizens.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Darsha Jani, Principal, Smt SR Mehta Arts College, said, “Education goes beyond textbooks. Through initiatives like this road safety poster competition, we aim to nurture socially aware individuals who understand their responsibility towards society and public safety.”

Highlighting the role of NSS in shaping socially committed youth, Dr Nayana Chudasama, NSS Coordinator, stated, “Road safety is a shared responsibility. By channelising students’ creativity, we are able to spread strong messages that can influence behaviour and save lives.”

Echoing similar sentiments, Dr Tejani Munshi, NSS Coordinator, added, “Creative platforms like poster-making help students express concern for societal issues while developing empathy, awareness and civic consciousness.”

The competition concluded on an inspiring note, reaffirming Smt SR Mehta Arts College’s commitment to value-based education and community-oriented initiatives under the NSS banner.
