MEHSANA (Gujarat), FEB 13
In a significant boost to Gujarat’s industrial stature, Ammann India has commenced production of its ‘Made in India’ ARW 65 Walk-Behind Roller at its Mehsana manufacturing facility, reinforcing the State’s growing role as a hub for advanced construction equipment manufacturing.
The inauguration was led by Hans Christian Schneider, Global CEO, Ammann Group, and Mr. Dheeraj Panda, Managing Director, Ammann India, along with the senior leadership team. The move strengthens Ammann India’s localisation strategy while expanding its compaction equipment portfolio to support India’s accelerating urban and infrastructure development.
The ARW 65 will be manufactured locally at Mehsana using Ammann’s global engineering standards and advanced production processes, delivering high-performance compaction solutions tailored specifically for Indian site conditions.
Engineered for India’s Urban Footprint
The ARW 65 is a versatile compaction machine built for smaller and confined construction sites. With a working width of 650 mm, it operates as a 2-in-1 roller — offering high amplitude for soil and gravel compaction and low amplitude for asphalt applications.
Powered by reliable diesel engines from Kohler or Yanmar, the machine features a fully hydraulic drive system that eliminates belts and clutches, thereby reducing maintenance requirements and improving operational reliability.
Additional features include a 60-litre water tank with an integrated sprinkler system for asphalt applications. Its hydrostatic eccentric adjustment (two force levels), larger water tank, refined ergonomics, and enhanced safety features such as a dead-man handle and integrated park brake make it stand out in its category.
With a typical operating weight of around 694 kg and a maximum centrifugal force of up to 23 kN, the ARW 65 is ideally suited for pavement repairs, pathway construction, landscaping, and urban infrastructure works.
The Mehsana facility has an annual production capacity of 150 units and supports 90 percent localisation — a major boost to Gujarat’s manufacturing ecosystem and employment landscape.
Leadership Speak
Commenting on the milestone, Hans Christian Schneider, Global CEO, Ammann Group, said: “India is a strategically vital market for Ammann, and our commitment here goes far beyond introducing globally proven technologies. Our focus is on localizing these innovations through engineering solutions that are tailored to India’s operating conditions, customer expectations, and infrastructure goals. The commencement of ARW 65 production in India aligns with this long term at Ammann commitment to localized manufacturing and engineering excellence.”
Dheeraj Panda, MD, Ammann India, added: “Ammann India’s focus remains on supporting the country’s accelerated infrastructure growth, particularly as the sector benefits from strong policy momentum, increased government investment, and the Make in India initiative. The commencement of ARW 65 production reflects our vision to combine world class technology with localized manufacturing to deliver productive, reliable, and sustainable compaction solutions. This milestone demonstrates how targeted investments in Indian manufacturing can enhance efficiency, quality, and long term value for customers executing infrastructure and urban development projects across the country.”
The ARW 65 Walk-Behind Roller will be available in the Indian market from April, backed by Ammann India’s nationwide sales and service network.
