AHMEDABAD, FEB 27
In a decisive moment for the chartered accountancy profession in Gujarat, Institute of Chartered Accountants of India’s Ahmedabad Branch of the Western India Regional Council (WIRC) has elected CA Rinkesh Shah as its new Chairman, ushering in a transformative leadership era focused on global professional integration, innovation, and inclusive growth.
Assuming office following his election on Thursday, CA Rinkesh Shah outlined a forward-looking vision to empower Ahmedabad’s chartered accountants to compete and collaborate on the international stage.
“Global opportunity for Chartered Accountants is no longer optional—it is essential. Our focus will be on equipping members with global competencies, strengthening international learning platforms, and enabling cross-border professional engagements,” said CA Rinkesh Shah.
He emphasised that adaptability, ethical excellence, and continuous learning would be the cornerstones of professional success in a rapidly evolving financial ecosystem shaped by technology, regulatory shifts, and globalisation.
A Strong Call for Women to Step Forward
Highlighting a critical gender gap within the profession, CA Rinkesh Shah issued a candid and compelling appeal to woman chartered accountants to actively participate in ICAI’s leadership and governance.
“Out of over 14,500 members, only 25 percent are woman members. The new committee of office-bearers comprises only one woman representative as they are reluctant to take part in the electoral process. We urge them to take part actively in our activities and contribute their mite.”
His statement underscores a broader mission to foster inclusivity and ensure diverse representation in shaping the profession’s future.
Dynamic Leadership Team to Drive Professional Transformation
The newly elected ICAI Ahmedabad Branch leadership team includes:
- CA Rinkesh Shah – Chairman
- CA Samir Chaudhary – Vice-Chairman
- CA Chetan Jagetiya – Secretary
- CA Shikha Agarwal – Treasurer
- CA Sahil Gala – Chairman, WICASA Ahmedabad Branch
The team brings diverse expertise and a shared commitment to enhancing member services, strengthening student support, and promoting professional excellence.
Under the new leadership, the branch will focus on:
- International learning and global certification pathways
- Technology-driven training and capacity-building programs
- Structured mentorship for students and young professionals
- Industry-academia collaboration initiatives
- Professional networking platforms and global exposure
WIRC Leadership Reinforces Western India’s Professional Backbone
At the regional level, the Western India Regional Council of ICAI, headquartered in Mumbai—the largest among ICAI’s five regional councils with over 2,00,000 members and 3,00,000 students—has also elected its new office bearers for 2026–27:
- CA Sourabh Ajmera – Chairman
- CA Rikin Patel – Vice Chairman
- CA Bishan Shah – Secretary
- CA Rakesh Shah – Treasurer
The WIRC continues to play a pivotal role in advancing professional education, policy advocacy, and capacity-building initiatives across Maharashtra, Gujarat, and Goa.
Positioning Ahmedabad as a Global Professional Powerhouse
With a clear roadmap anchored in innovation, global integration, and inclusive participation, ICAI Ahmedabad under CA Rinkesh Shah’s leadership is poised to redefine the professional trajectory of its members.
His vision reflects a powerful shift—from preparing accountants for compliance roles to shaping globally competitive financial leaders capable of driving business transformation, economic growth, and international collaboration.
As ICAI Ahmedabad steps into this new chapter, its message is clear: the future of chartered accountancy lies not just in mastering numbers—but in embracing global opportunity, leadership, and inclusive excellence.
