NEW DELHI, FEB 27
In a defining moment for India’s technological sovereignty and public health transformation, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will embark on a landmark visit to Gujarat and Rajasthan on February 28, unveiling strategic projects that promise to reshape India’s semiconductor ecosystem, infrastructure backbone, healthcare protection and youth employment landscape.
At the heart of this historic mission lies the inauguration of Micron Technology’s Semiconductor Assembly, Test and Packaging (ATMP) facility in Sanand, Gujarat — a monumental leap that places India firmly on the global semiconductor manufacturing map.
Gujarat: India’s Semiconductor Dream Takes Physical Form
At around 3:45 PM, the Prime Minister will inaugurate Micron Semiconductor Technology India Private Limited’s state-of-the-art ATMP facility in Sanand and address a distinguished gathering of industry leaders, engineers and policymakers.
This inauguration marks a historic milestone as commercial production and shipment of the first “Made-in-India” semiconductor memory modules commence from Indian soil — a breakthrough that strengthens India’s strategic autonomy in electronics and advanced computing.
Built with an investment exceeding ₹22,500 crore under the India Semiconductor Mission, the Sanand facility represents the first semiconductor proposal approved under the national initiative, signalling the government’s unwavering commitment to building a resilient domestic chip ecosystem.
Once fully operational, the facility will house approximately 500,000 square feet of cleanroom space — making it one of the world’s largest raised-floor cleanrooms. This engineering marvel will convert advanced DRAM and NAND wafers sourced from Micron’s global network into finished memory and storage solutions destined for worldwide markets.
The project directly aligns with the Prime Minister’s vision of transforming India into a trusted, competitive and indispensable hub in the global semiconductor value chain — powering technologies from artificial intelligence to next-generation computing.
Rajasthan: Healthcare Shield and Infrastructure Surge for a New India
Earlier in the day, at around 11:30 AM in Ajmer, Rajasthan, the Prime Minister will launch, inaugurate and lay foundation stones for development projects worth over ₹16,680 crore spanning critical sectors such as urban development, drinking water, highways, irrigation, energy and industrial infrastructure.
In a major public health milestone, the Prime Minister will launch a nationwide Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination campaign for girls aged 14, aimed at preventing cervical cancer — one of the leading causes of cancer-related illness among women. This transformative initiative underscores India’s commitment to preventive healthcare and long-term women’s well-being.
Major infrastructure projects include inauguration and foundation-laying for high-speed expressways, elevated corridors and greenfield highway sections, strengthening connectivity across Rajasthan and integrating it more deeply into national economic corridors.
To ensure safe drinking water access, foundation stones will be laid for major drinking water projects, while renewable energy infrastructure will receive a major boost with new grid substations and transmission systems enabling efficient evacuation of green energy from Rajasthan’s renewable zones.
Youth Empowerment and Nation-Building in Motion
Reinforcing the government’s commitment to employment generation, the Prime Minister will distribute over 21,800 appointment letters to newly recruited youth in various government departments and organisations — empowering a new generation to participate in nation-building.
Together, the semiconductor launch, healthcare mission, infrastructure expansion and employment drive reflect a holistic national transformation — strengthening India’s technological independence, public health resilience, economic infrastructure and human capital simultaneously.
India’s semiconductor dawn and healthcare shield now rise together — signalling the emergence of a confident, self-reliant and future-ready nation.
