The company announced the launch of its new range of Room Air Conditioners for Summer 2026, introducing 125 models designed to cater to diverse residential and commercial needs. The comprehensive lineup includes a flagship premium series along with multiple variants tailored for different climatic conditions, budgets and usage environments.
All models comply with the new Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) standards that came into effect on January 1, 2026, reinforcing the company’s focus on sustainable and high-performance cooling technologies.
Premium ‘Iconia’ Range Headlines New Lineup
Among the highlights of the launch is ‘Iconia’, a premium range finished in an elegant Midnight Silver design aimed at consumers seeking both aesthetics and performance.
The portfolio spans inverter, fixed-speed and window air conditioners, offering solutions across multiple price points and customer segments.
Blue Star has also introduced several flagship product categories, including Super Energy-Efficient ACs, Heavy-Duty ACs, Hot & Cold ACs, and Anti-Virus Technology ACs, each engineered for specific environmental and consumer needs.
Energy Efficiency and Cooling Power
The Super Energy-Efficient ACs incorporate Dynamic Drive Technology, which optimises airflow and cooling performance.
With this technology, the 1-ton inverter split AC achieves an ISEER rating of 6.25, making it about 45 per cent more energy efficient than a typical 3-star inverter AC.
Meanwhile, the Heavy-Duty ACs are designed for extreme Indian summers, delivering reliable cooling even in temperatures of up to 56°C. These models feature an air throw of up to 55 feet and maintain full cooling capacity even at 43°C, ensuring comfort in challenging climatic conditions.
Comfort Across Seasons
The company’s Hot & Cold ACs offer year-round climate control, catering to regions with both intense summers and cold winters.
Blue Star offers specialised models capable of operating at ambient temperatures as low as –15°C, making them suitable for extremely cold regions such as Srinagar, while other variants function efficiently down to –5°C.
The Anti-Virus Technology ACs are equipped with advanced filtration systems designed to filter harmful microbes and particulate matter, while also operating in air purification mode to improve indoor air quality.
Smart and Connected Cooling
Nearly 50 models in the range are Smart Wi-Fi enabled, integrating advanced digital features such as:
- AI-driven adaptive cooling
- customised sleep modes
- voice command technology
- energy management systems
Additional innovations include multi-layer filtration systems, convertible cooling modes, self-clean and defrost-clean technology, DigiQ Octa Sensors, and Nano BluProtect anti-corrosion protection.
To enhance consumer confidence, the company is offering a lifetime warranty on the inverter compressor and a five-year warranty on PCBs, along with attractive financing options to improve accessibility.
Expanding Manufacturing Strength
To support growing demand, Blue Star has strengthened its manufacturing footprint across multiple facilities.
The company’s current production capacity stands at about 1.4 million units, scalable to 1.8 million units. Its manufacturing ecosystem includes a state-of-the-art plant at Sri City in Andhra Pradesh, along with two facilities in Himachal Pradesh, all dedicated to room AC production.
These plants feature advanced automation, modern assembly lines, automated material handling systems, IoT integration and digitalisation initiatives aimed at improving efficiency and scalability.
Focus on Sustainability and Innovation
Blue Star continues to invest in advanced R&D infrastructure, including accredited testing laboratories and dedicated product development facilities.
The company is integrating eco-friendly refrigerants and energy-efficient technologies across its portfolio, aligning with evolving environmental standards and sustainability goals.
Strong Distribution and Service Network
Blue Star has built a robust nationwide presence, covering 900 towns through more than 10,000 retail outlets.
Its Gold Standard Service programme, supported by over 2,100 service partners and digital platforms, ensures reliable after-sales support across the country.
Expanding Commercial Refrigeration Portfolio
Beyond residential cooling, Blue Star also offers a wide portfolio of commercial refrigeration solutions as part of its Unitary Cooling products segment.
These include deep freezers, storage water coolers, bottled water dispensers, visi coolers and freezers, cold rooms, supermarket refrigeration systems, kitchen refrigeration equipment, and healthcare refrigeration products such as ultra-low temperature freezers and vaccine transporters.
The solutions cater to multiple sectors including horticulture, dairy, ice cream, poultry, processed foods, quick service restaurants, HoReCa, marine, pharmaceuticals and healthcare.
The commercial refrigeration segment is witnessing strong momentum driven by growing out-of-home consumption, rapid expansion of food retail and quick commerce, and increasing demand for temperature-controlled logistics and storage.
Industry Growth Outlook
Speaking at a press conference in Chennai, B Thiagarajan, Managing Director of Blue Star Limited, highlighted the long-term growth potential of India’s cooling industry.
“India’s cooling demand is at an inflection point, supported by favourable demographics and structural shifts in consumption. Nearly 150 million households in India are expected to be able to afford air conditioners in the future, indicating significant headroom for penetration.”
“The new range of Unitary Cooling products, including a comprehensive portfolio of commercial refrigeration solutions, further strengthens our ability to capitalise on the growing opportunities and expand our presence across both residential and commercial segments.”
“By aligning our product strategy with key structural shifts, from first-time AC adoption to evolving refrigeration needs, Blue Star is well positioned to lead in the next phase of cooling demand.”
Growing Market Opportunity
India’s room AC industry is currently witnessing strong structural growth, driven by rising affluence, rapid urbanisation and increasing climate intensity.
The market is projected to expand from around 14 million units to nearly 30 million units by FY2030, fuelled by strong first-time adoption in under-penetrated markets and replacement demand in mature urban centres.
Interestingly, Tier-3, Tier-4 and Tier-5 markets are emerging as key growth engines, expanding faster than major metros, albeit from a smaller base.
