In a powerful demonstration of leadership from the front, the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS) of the Indian Air Force, Amar Preet Singh, flew an operational formation sortie on the Mikoyan MiG‑29UPG from a forward airbase, reaffirming the Air Force leadership’s close engagement with frontline operational units.
The formation sortie was led by Parvinder Singh, Flight Lieutenant, who guided the formation through the operational profile. Before landing, the aircraft executed a smart peel-off manoeuvre over the runway — a hallmark of precision flying and squadron-level combat training.
The sortie reflected the high operational standards and combat readiness maintained by the squadron tasked with safeguarding India’s airspace.
CAS Engages with Air Warriors
During the visit, the Air Chief was briefed by the Commanding Officer on the squadron’s operational responsibilities, as well as the enhanced combat capabilities of the upgraded MiG-29UPG fighter platform.
The squadron is also preparing to mark 63 years since its induction in 1963, highlighting a long and distinguished operational legacy within the Indian Air Force.
The CAS interacted with aircrew, technicians and ground personnel, acknowledging the critical contribution of technical and support staff in sustaining complex combat aircraft operations.
