In a tribute befitting five decades of unwavering maritime service, the Golden Jubilee of the Indian Coast Guard was commemorated with the unveiling of a landmark documentary and video book at Naya Sachivalaya on Monday.

Authored by Dr. Vivek Bhatt, Channel Head & Editor-in-Chief of Gujarat First, the publication captures the remarkable journey, operational excellence, and defining milestones of the force since its inception in 1976.
The ceremonial release was led by Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, in the distinguished presence of Speaker Shankarbhai Chaudhary, Chief Secretary Manoj Kumar Das, DGP KLN Rao, and Inspector General Tekur Sashi Kumar, Commander Coast Guard Region (North West). Senior ministers, officials, and dignitaries joined the celebration, reflecting the nation’s collective gratitude towards the force.
The documentary vividly traces the Coast Guard’s transformation from a nascent maritime outfit into a formidable multi-mission force, safeguarding India’s vast coastline and maritime interests. It underscores the service’s relentless commitment to its enduring motto:

“Vayam Rakshamah” (We Protect)
Over the past 50 years, the Indian Coast Guard has played a pivotal role in coastal security, anti-smuggling operations, search and rescue missions, marine environment protection, and disaster response—emerging as a critical pillar in India’s maritime security architecture.
Reflecting on the occasion, leaders highlighted the Coast Guard’s expanding strategic importance amid evolving maritime challenges and its role in ensuring safe and secure seas for national growth.

Indian Coast Guard Region (North West), headquartered along the strategically vital western seaboard, continues to serve as a vigilant sentinel—protecting critical sea lanes, offshore assets, and coastal communities within its Area of Responsibility.
The Golden Jubilee celebration not only honoured a legacy of courage and commitment but also reaffirmed India’s resolve to strengthen its maritime frontiers in an increasingly complex global security environment.
