NE BUSINESS BUREAU
MUMBAI, MAR 21

In a commanding display of operational excellence, Adani Electricity Mumbai Limited has retained its No.1 position in India’s power distribution rankings for the second consecutive year, emerging as the country’s best-performing utility with an impressive score of 92.5.

The rankings, released by the Ministry of Power in association with REC Limited, evaluated 66 electricity distribution companies (DISCOMs) under the Distribution Utilities Ranking (DUR) and Consumer Service Rating of DISCOMs (CSRD).

Consistency That Powers Leadership

Reaffirming its dominance, the Adani Group company showcased consistent excellence across operational efficiency, financial discipline, and customer-centric service delivery.

Kandarp Patel, Managing Director & CEO, said: “Retaining the No.1 position for the second consecutive year reflects the consistency and discipline with which our teams operate every day. This recognition goes beyond performance metrics—it reflects the trust placed in us by the city we serve.”

“We remain committed to delivering reliable, efficient and resilient power that keeps Mumbai moving without interruption,” he added.

A+ Rating: Where Reliability Meets Responsiveness

ADANI ELECTRICITY secured an A+ rating in consumer service, driven by:

  • High supply reliability
  • Accurate and transparent billing
  • Efficient grievance redressal

This places it among just six utilities nationwide to achieve the top service band—while none fell into the lowest category, indicating sector-wide progress.

Tech-Driven Transformation at Scale

Serving over 30 lakh consumers in Mumbai, the utility’s performance is anchored in:

  • Advanced metering infrastructure
  • Data-driven analytics
  • Robust supply planning and resource adequacy

The results highlight how digitalisation has moved from advantage to baseline, shaping next-gen power distribution.

 Competitive Landscape Tightens

The rankings reflect a more competitive and performance-driven sector, with both private and public players making strong gains. Notable performers include:

  • Tata Power Delhi Distribution Limited
  • Noida Power Company Limited
  • Dakshin Gujarat Vij Company Limited
  • Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport Undertaking

The Big Picture: India’s DISCOM Revolution

The latest national assessment underscores three defining trends:

  • Performance convergence across utilities
  • Digitalisation as a core foundation
  • Consumer experience as the key differentiator

As India’s power sector pivots to a performance-led, tech-enabled model, Adani Electricity’s back-to-back leadership sets a new benchmark for reliability, innovation, and customer trust.
