NEW DELHI, APR 12
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address a national-level ‘Nari Shakti Vandan Sammelan’ on April 13, 2026, at Vigyan Bhawan, marking a significant moment in India’s journey towards women-led development and inclusive governance.
The Sammelan, scheduled around 11 AM, will bring together a diverse spectrum of women achievers and thought leaders, creating a powerful platform to celebrate and strengthen the role of women in nation-building.
A Confluence of Excellence Across Sectors
The event will witness participation from eminent personalities and women achievers representing fields such as government, academia, science, sports, entrepreneurship, media, social work, and culture—reflecting the expanding footprint of women across India’s growth story.
From Law to Leadership: Women’s Reservation in Focus
The Sammelan comes in the backdrop of the landmark Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam, passed by Parliament in September 2023, which provides for one-third reservation for women in the Lok Sabha and State Legislative Assemblies.
With a special Parliament session scheduled from April 16, the focus is now on accelerating implementation of women’s reservation across the country, giving the issue renewed urgency and national attention.
Driving Representation in Decision-Making
The programme underscores the importance of enhanced representation of women in decision-making processes, highlighting their growing leadership roles from grassroots governance to the highest legislative platforms.
It aims to reinforce the message that inclusive participation is key to a stronger democracy.
Women at the Core of Viksit Bharat 2047
Positioning women as central to India’s long-term vision, the Sammelan will spotlight their pivotal role in achieving the goals of Viksit Bharat 2047.
The initiative reflects the government’s continued emphasis on women-led development as a cornerstone of national progress, ensuring that empowerment translates into leadership, opportunity, and transformation.
