In a bold, industry-defining move, Gammen Sports and Entertainment Pvt. Ltd. has unveiled ‘Big Pitchure’, India’s first-ever pan-India reality show that flips the traditional filmmaking model on its head—placing creative control squarely in the hands of the audience.
Streaming soon on JioHotstar in five languages, the show challenges viewers with a striking call to action: “You’ve always judged movies. Now make one.”
- From critics to creators: Pan-India show hands filmmaking power directly to the audience
- 15-week journey to produce a feature film “By the People, For the People”
- Innovative ‘Starboard’ & ‘Motherboard’ format brings radical transparency to content creation
- Multi-Language rollout on JioHotstar unlocks nationwide participation
- Top Regional Hosts Lead a Cultural Experiment Blending Talent Discovery with Storytelling Democracy
At a time when cinema is often reduced to quick reviews and instant verdicts, ‘Big Pitchure’ stretches across an ambitious 15-week format, inviting everyday Indians to step into the roles of writers, directors, actors, and technicians. The ultimate payoff: a full-length feature film crafted collectively by participants across the country, destined for a theatrical release.
What sets the show apart is its deeply interactive and transparent format, anchored around two dynamic engines of storytelling:
- The Starboard — a massive digital canvas capturing thousands of crowd-sourced ideas, auditions, and music submissions from across India.
- The Motherboard — the decision-making core where audiences and mentors collaboratively shape the film, week by week, into a final cinematic blueprint.
This dual-layered mechanism transforms passive viewership into active creation, offering a rare behind-the-scenes immersion into the complexities of filmmaking.
RAV, Producer, Gammen Sports and Entertainment Pvt. Ltd., said: “Every Friday, years of hard work are often reduced to a few stars in a review. With ‘Big Pitchure,’ we are changing the narrative. We want the audience to feel the weight of the camera and the pressure of the script. This isn’t just a show; it’s a movement to foster empathy for the craft while discovering the hidden creative gems of India. We are excited to see what the ‘Motherboard’ finally produces.”
Each weekly episode—running 60 minutes and streaming every Sunday—will advance through distinct creative phases, culminating in the final selection of winners who will collectively produce the feature film for a pan-India audience.
The show’s expansive reach is reinforced by a diverse line-up of hosts across languages, including Bharath (Tamil), Indrajith Sukumaran (Malayalam), Navdeep (Telugu), Vasishta N. Simha (Kannada), and Vijay Raaz (Hindi)—ensuring deep cultural resonance across regions.
Actor Bharath, Host of the Tamil Version, added: “Tamil cinema has always been driven by passionate fans who live and breathe movies. Now, for the first time, those fans aren’t just in the gallery, they are in the director’s chair. I am thrilled to lead the Tamil leg of this journey and witness our local talent transition from critics to creators. It’s time to show the nation that making a movie is just as dramatic as the movie itself.”
Beyond entertainment, ‘Big Pitchure’ positions itself as a creative movement—democratising storytelling, surfacing grassroots talent, and blurring the lines between audience and artist in an increasingly participatory digital culture.
Aspiring storytellers, performers, and technicians can register and submit entries through the official platform, opening the gates for India’s next wave of cinematic voices.
