BENGALURU, MAY 1
In a major push to strengthen its people-first approach and logistics backbone, Amazon India has announced an investment of over ₹2,800 crore (~$300 million) to enhance associate safety, health, and financial wellbeing while further expanding its pan-India operations network.
This commitment forms part of Amazon’s broader plan to invest over $35 billion in India by 2030, anchored on three strategic pillars—AI-driven digitisation, export growth, and job creation—alongside continued business expansion.
PEOPLE AT THE CORE OF SCALE
Highlighting the company’s focus on its workforce, Abhinav Singh, VP – Operations, Amazon India & Australia, said:
“Since launching Amazon.in in 2013, we have built one of India’s safest, fastest, and most reliable operations networks, serving customers across every serviceable pin code in the country. At the heart of this network are our people, and we remain committed to raising the bar on associate safety, health, and financial wellbeing. This year, we are investing over INR 2800 crore (~USD 300 million) to further strengthen these efforts, while continuing to scale our operations network and advance the technology that enables faster, safer, and more reliable deliveries for customers. Our initiatives also align with national priorities such as Ayushman Bharat and Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana, helping expand access to healthcare and financial inclusion for our associates.”
SAFETY, HEALTH & FINANCIAL SECURITY—AT SCALE
The investment will significantly expand programmes supporting tens of thousands of associates and over 200,000 community members:
- Project Ashray to scale air-conditioned rest hubs across cities
- Sushruta programme for truck drivers’ health and family wellbeing
- Nationwide medical camps offering preventive healthcare access
- Enhanced insurance coverage including group mediclaim and accident policies
- Samriddhi initiative enabling access to government schemes like Ayushman Bharat and Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana
- Pratidhi scholarships supporting education for associates’ children
INFRASTRUCTURE & QUICK COMMERCE EXPANSION
Amazon will continue to expand its fulfilment centres, sortation hubs, and delivery stations, especially across Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities, improving delivery speed and capacity.
Its quick commerce offering Amazon Now, already scaled to 300+ micro-fulfilment centres, will see further expansion—enabling delivery timelines from minutes to hours to days, depending on customer needs.
AI & TECH POWERING NEXT-GEN LOGISTICS
The company is accelerating investments in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and machine learning to enhance operational safety and efficiency:
- Real-time alerts for unsafe driving and rest breaks
- AI-based route optimisation and workload balancing
- Improved navigation for unstructured addresses
- Enhanced driver app with better transparency and simplified workflows
Additionally, Amazon’s facilities are being upgraded with climate control systems, energy-efficient infrastructure, and inclusive workplace features, including improved rest areas and accessibility solutions.
BUILDING INDIA’S LOGISTICS FUTURE
The latest investment builds on Amazon’s ₹2,000 crore infusion in 2025, which added 17 fulfilment centres, six sortation hubs, and 75 delivery stations—cementing its position as one of India’s most robust logistics networks.
With a sharp focus on people, technology, and infrastructure, Amazon India is reinforcing its role in enabling faster deliveries, stronger seller ecosystems, and inclusive economic growth.
