VADODARA, JUNE 8

Transforming environmental awareness into meaningful action, GSFC University celebrated World Environment Day 2026 with a series of sustainability-focused initiatives that encouraged students and staff to become active custodians of nature.

Organised by the University’s Environment Club under the theme “Inspired by Nature. For Climate. For Our Future.”, the celebrations showcased a blend of ecological responsibility, innovation and community participation.

A key highlight was a tree plantation drive at the University’s Arboretum under the national campaign “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam.” Director (I/C Administration) and Campus Director Shri M.K. Barot, senior management officials, faculty members, non-teaching staff and students joined hands to plant native saplings, symbolising a collective pledge towards environmental conservation and a greener tomorrow.

Extending its sustainability mission beyond plantation activities, the Environment Club launched an Eco-Brick Making Competition, challenging students to convert non-recyclable plastic waste into eco-bricks and promote practical solutions for responsible waste management and plastic recycling.

Adding a creative dimension to the celebrations, the University also announced a Short Film Making Competition on environmental themes, inviting students to use the power of storytelling to create awareness on climate change, biodiversity conservation, pollution and sustainable living.

The World Environment Day observance reflected GSFC University’s enduring commitment to nurturing environmentally conscious citizens by integrating sustainability, innovation and community engagement into campus life. Through hands-on initiatives and creative platforms, the institution continues to inspire the next generation to become catalysts for climate action and ecological stewardship.
