NEW DELHI, JUNE 21

Demonstrating the power of unity, discipline and holistic wellness, the National Cadet Corps (NCC) marked the 12th International Day of Yoga (IDY) 2026 with unprecedented enthusiasm across the country, bringing together more than 8.30 lakh cadets, Associate NCC Officers, Permanent Instructors and staff members in a synchronised celebration of health and mindfulness.

The nationwide observance unfolded simultaneously at over 5,000 locations, transforming iconic landmarks, riverfronts, beaches, stadiums and heritage sites into vibrant centres of physical fitness and mental well-being. The massive participation underscored NCC’s enduring commitment to nurturing a generation of confident, resilient and socially responsible young citizens.

From the picturesque Sabarmati Riverfront in Ahmedabad and the historic Golconda Fort in Hyderabad to the sacred environs of Bodh Gaya, the bustling Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, the serene banks of the Brahmaputra River in Guwahati, Namo Ghat in Varanasi, Millennium Park in Kolkata, Sukhna Lake in Chandigarh, Marina Beach in Chennai and the majestic Konark Sun Temple in Odisha, cadets performed yoga in unison, symbolising harmony between tradition and modern nation-building.

The coordinated yoga sessions highlighted the transformative role of yoga in enhancing physical endurance, mental focus and emotional balance—qualities that are central to the NCC’s ethos of leadership and service.

NCC officials noted that the organisation continues to play a pivotal role in nation-building by fostering discipline, character, teamwork and civic responsibility among the youth. Through initiatives such as International Day of Yoga, NCC promotes a culture of fitness, self-discipline and collective well-being while inspiring young Indians to contribute meaningfully to society and the nation.

As millions across the country embraced yoga, the participation of over 8.30 lakh NCC members stood out as a powerful demonstration of how India’s youth are carrying forward the timeless values of wellness, unity and national service.
