AHMEDABAD, JUNE 21

Reinforcing the importance of cultivating healthy habits from an early age, Seventh Day School, Ahmedabad celebrated the 12th International Yoga Day with enthusiasm and active student participation in collaboration with Bhartiya Yog Sansthan.

Around 150 students from Classes VI and IX, along with NCC Boys and Girls, gathered on the school grounds during the early morning hours to take part in a special yoga session designed to promote physical fitness, mental well-being and holistic development.

Guided by experienced trainers from Bhartiya Yog Sansthan, the students performed the Common Yoga Protocol, which included warm-up exercises, Tadasana, Bhujangasana, breathing techniques and meditation practices. The programme was aligned with this year’s theme, “Yoga for One Earth, One Health,” highlighting the connection between individual wellness and collective well-being.

Addressing the gathering, Principal Fileep Tayade emphasised the transformative role yoga can play in the lives of young learners by enhancing concentration, discipline and immunity.

“Yoga is India’s ancient gift to the world. It is not just physical exercise but a way of life that builds discipline, concentration and immunity. Just 10 minutes of daily Yoga can keep both body and mind healthy. I urge all students to make Yoga a part of their daily routine,” he said.

The event highlighted how yoga can help students manage academic pressures, improve focus, strengthen physical health and develop emotional resilience—qualities that are increasingly important in today’s fast-paced world.

Teachers, NCC officers and staff members encouraged students throughout the session, making the celebration both educational and inspiring. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks, leaving participants motivated to continue practising yoga beyond the occasion.

As schools increasingly recognise the value of wellness education, initiatives such as these are helping nurture a generation of healthier, more confident and balanced young citizens.
