AHMEDABAD, JULY 24

For a person who has lost a limb, the journey back to independence can begin with something as simple as a measurement—and transform into the ability to walk, work and live with renewed confidence.

Bringing this life-changing opportunity to persons with disabilities in Ahmedabad and neighbouring regions, Narayan Seva Sansthan (NSS), in collaboration with its CSR partner Ingersoll Rand, will organise the Narayan Artificial Limb Measurement Camp in Ahmedabad on July 26, 2026.

The Mega Free Disability Surgery Screening and 3D-Printed Modular Artificial Limb Measurement Camp will screen eligible persons for free corrective surgeries and conduct measurements for customised, advanced 3D-printed Narayan Modular Artificial Limbs based on Japanese and German technology.

The humanitarian initiative is aimed at helping persons who have lost their hands or legs due to accidents, illness or other causes to regain mobility and move towards greater self-reliance.

Bhagwan Prasad Gaur, Head of Media and Public Relations, Narayan Seva Sansthan, said that more than 500 people have already registered for the camp, reflecting the enormous need for accessible and free rehabilitation services.

He said the organisation’s primary objective was to restore dignity, mobility and self-reliance to persons with disabilities who otherwise face financial and physical barriers in accessing advanced medical and prosthetic care.

Inspired by its founder Kailash “Manav” Agarwal, the Sansthan has been serving humanity continuously for four decades.

A camp that can change the course of a life

The Ahmedabad camp will offer two critical avenues of support.

Persons requiring corrective surgery will be screened and eligible beneficiaries will be selected for free operations at Narayan Seva Sansthan’s state-of-the-art hospital in Udaipur.

Those found eligible for artificial limbs will undergo measurements for customised modular prosthetic limbs. The limbs will subsequently be provided free of cost at a follow-up camp approximately two months later.

The initiative is particularly significant for persons who may have been unable to access advanced prosthetic technology because of financial constraints.

‘No one should be denied the chance to walk, work and live independently’

Prashant Agarwal, President, Narayan Seva Sansthan, said: “True empowerment begins when we remove the barriers that prevent people from living with dignity and self-reliance. At Narayan Seva Sansthan, our mission extends far beyond providing medical support—we strive to restore hope, confidence, and opportunity.”

He said the Ahmedabad camp reflected the organisation’s commitment to ensuring that no person was denied the opportunity to walk, work and live independently because of physical disability or financial constraints.

“We invite every eligible beneficiary to come forward and take the first step towards a brighter, more inclusive future,” he said.

Ahmedabad camp poster unveiled

During a press conference in Ahmedabad, Bhagwan Prasad Gaur, Head of Public Relations, Narayan Seva Sansthan, and Kailash Choudhary, Ashram In-charge, NSS Ahmedabad, officially unveiled the poster of the mega camp.

The organisers urged persons with disabilities from Ahmedabad and nearby areas who require corrective surgery or an artificial limb to make use of the opportunity.

The camp is part of NSS’s continuing nationwide humanitarian outreach. The organisation has previously conducted mega disability camps in Pune, Bengaluru, Mumbai and Agra, benefiting thousands of persons with disabilities through free screening, corrective surgery referrals and advanced prosthetic solutions.

After Ahmedabad in July, the campaign will move to Ballari, Karnataka, in August.

Four decades of restoring mobility and dignity

Narayan Seva Sansthan has provided more than 40,200 free artificial limbs to persons with disabilities in India and abroad and has extended free medical treatment to more than 454,081 persons with disabilities, according to the organisation.

Founder Kailash “Manav” Agarwal was awarded the Padma Shri in 2008 for his contribution to social service.

Continuing the legacy of the organisation, President Prashant Agarwal received the National Award in 2023 from President Droupadi Murmu for his contribution to the empowerment of persons with disabilities.

The Ahmedabad camp is more than a medical outreach programme. For many beneficiaries, it could mark the moment when dependence gives way to mobility, hesitation to confidence and disability to a renewed opportunity to stand on their own feet.
