In a pioneering initiative aimed at reshaping the future of student employability in Gujarat, GIFT International FinTech Institute (GIFT ifi) on Tuesday hosted GIFT City’s first-ever Training and Placement Officers’ (TPO) Meet, bringing together placement leaders from premier higher educational institutions to forge stronger industry-academia partnerships and prepare students for the rapidly evolving world of financial services, fintech and artificial intelligence.
The day-long conclave witnessed the participation of 34 Training and Placement Officers from leading institutions across Gujarat, who deliberated on emerging recruitment trends, AI-enabled career services, technology-driven placement operations and strategies to equip graduates with industry-relevant skills.
Delivering the keynote address, Prof Rajat Moona, Director, IIT Gandhinagar and Governing Board Member, GIFT ifi, underscored the transformational impact of Artificial Intelligence on higher education and employment.
“In the era of AI, the expectations from industries are changing rapidly, and institutions must continuously adapt to prepare students for an increasingly technology-driven and interdisciplinary world,” he said.
Describing Training and Placement Officers as “strategic enablers” of institutional transformation, Prof Moona added that platforms such as the GIFT ifi-TPO Meet enable institutions to exchange best practices, strengthen student employability and create greater awareness about the career opportunities emerging within GIFT City’s dynamic financial ecosystem.
Highlighting the pivotal role of placement professionals, Dr Puneet Gupta, President, GIFT ifi, said the conclave was conceived as a collaborative platform to help institutions navigate the changing employment landscape.
“Training and Placement Officers have a deep and direct influence on the career journeys of students. As the nature of work and the skills required by employers continue to evolve, placement offices must also continuously adapt,” he observed.
The conclave featured interactive brainstorming sessions on Placement Operations Excellence, where participants shared innovative practices and explored collaborative approaches to enhance campus recruitment, employer engagement and career development initiatives.
A dedicated session on Artificial Intelligence in Modern Placement Offices showcased how AI can transform student engagement, career counselling, employer outreach, data-driven decision-making and operational efficiency, while participants also gained first-hand insights into GIFT City’s integrated financial ecosystem through a guided experience tour.
The discussions further explored opportunities for collaboration between GIFT ifi and educational institutions in fintech education, student upskilling, academic engagement, industry readiness and career development, reinforcing the institute’s vision of nurturing globally competitive talent for India’s financial and technology sectors.
Officials said the inaugural TPO Meet marks the beginning of a sustained engagement with higher educational institutions, positioning GIFT City as a catalyst for innovation-driven education and a future-ready workforce capable of meeting the demands of India’s fast-expanding digital economy.
