AMARAVATI, APRIL 25

Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has instructed the officials to closely monitor the ground situation in red zones, besides strengthening the Telemedicine system and ensure medical facilities to high risk patients with other ailments besides making available essential commodities throughout the State.

Briefing measures being taken to contain the spread of COVID-19 in Kurnool and Guntur, Health Minister Alla Nani said that the pandemic was not in all parts of the two districts but was restricted only to a few areas. The Chief Minister ordered the officials to monitor the situation from ground zero level and ensure the availability of daily essential goods near containment zones.

Only one pass for a family should be given and only that person should be allowed to come outside. He ordered the officials to intensify the preventive measures in Nandyala as more number of cases is showing up there.

Regarding the success of the YSR Telemedicine programme, the Chief Minister asked the officials to strengthen the programme further. For the same, officials told that so far 8,395 members have consulted doctors through this programme and medicines were also being delivered to the patients.

He directed the officials to ensure hassle-free medical services to dialysis patients and other high-risk patients. Briefing the alternate measures taken to deliver these services, the officials said the services have been shifted to other hospitals as few hospitals have been announced as COVID hospitals. The details of the services in hospitals are being notified to the public so that patients would not face any issues.

Chief Minister has instructed the officials to set up a mobile lab to help testing migrant workers and those who are stranded at various camps of the state.

To support the tomato, onion, chili, and other crops, the Chief Minister asked the officials to monitor the marketing and price fluctuations of these crops. He instructed the officials to decentralize Rythu Bazars and sell the products purchased from farmers in these Rythu Bazaars.

Majority cases are from old clusters

Nearly 67 per cent of the total 955 Covid-19 cases are from four districts Kurnool, Guntur, Krishna and Chittoor, where a majority of cases were identified in old clusters, said Special Chief Secretary of Health KS Jawahar Reddy.

Speaking to the media here on Friday, he said that the State government is focussing on extensive testing, where AP stands first in the country with an average of 1018 tests per million people. As on Friday, Visakhapatnam tops the chart with a total of 6765 tests with an average of 1577 tests for every million population.

He further stated that 46 cases of the 62 which were recorded in the last 24 hours are from old clusters, where 16 cases were identified from 10 new clusters. With this, the total number of clusters increased to 191 from the existing 181. In addition to this, about two-thirds of the 191 clusters where Covid-19 cases have been reported are in urban areas.

“We have categorised mandals as red, orange, and green zones. Of the total 676 mandals, 60 are red, 50 are orange and 566 are green. In the last 24 hours, as many as seven mandals which were in Green have turned Red and Orange,” he added.

With regard to Telemedicine, in the last 24 hours, 859 consultations have been made, where 533 of them were given prescriptions and the rest 326 cases went with health advice. “We are also working with door delivery of medicines for those prescribed with certain medication,” he said.
