Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy instructed the officials of the Education Department to complete the first phase of Nadu-Nedu works in government schools by the end of June.

Addressing a review meeting on the Nadu-Nadu programme in the School Education Department here on Saturday, the Chief Minister stated that a major chunk of the tendering process for infrastructure materials has been finalised and the government also saved a large amount through a reverse tendering process.

As on date, through reverse tenders, Rs 5.07 Crore was saved towards the purchase of 72,596 Green Chalk Boards, Rs 4.23 Crores were saved during the purchase of 16,334 Almarahs. The Chief Minister instructed the officials to speed up the works and complete them by June end. He stressed the need to maintain quality in the works taken up as part of the programme.

The officials have shown him the samples of uniforms, belts, bags that would be distributed to students. Three pairs of uniforms, notebooks, textbooks, shoes, and socks would be given to the students at the beginning of the academic year.

The Chief Minister asked the officials to maintain the quality of the material that would be given to the students.

YSR telemedicine programme to stay forever

YSR Telemedicine programme will continue for ever and village clinics will have great utility in times of health emergency while the Andhra Pradesh continues to be ahead of other states in conducting the COVID 19 tests.

During a review meeting, chaired by Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, here on Saturday, it was revealed that the State stands ahead of others with an average of 1147 tests per million population and has conducted 61,266 tests so far.

The Chief Minister instructed the officials to appoint a special officer for Srikakulam district to monitor the situation as cases were reported from there. About 6,928 tests were done in the state on Friday, the officials said.

While creating awareness on the 14410 toll-free number of the YSR Telemedicine programme, he asked the officials to strengthen it further as it should be a permanent programme and prescribed medicines should be delivered to the patients.

During times of such pandemic, village clinics would play a crucial role in tackling the situation, the Chief Minister said adding that health department should be well equipped with necessary infrastructure facilities to tackle such disasters. He instructed the officials to set up testing labs in the remaining districts besides intensify the measures in COVID hospital at Kurnool.

The Chief Minister made it clear that central guidelines should be strictly followed while ensuring the social distancing and allow operations of the agriculture sector. Agriculture Minister Kurasala Kannababu said there is a good response for Janata Bazaars. Meanwhile, Municipal administration Minister Botsa Satyanarayana said feedback is being collected from the public in regard to COVID-19 preventive measures in corporations, sanitation works in municipalities and action would be taken based on the feedback.

Ministers Alla Nani, Botsa Satyanarayana, Kurasala Kannababu, Chief Secretary Nilam Sawhney, Special Chief Secretary Jawahar Reddy were present.
