GANDHINAGAR, SEPT 15

Can devotion to Lord Ganesha and devotion to Mother Earth go hand in hand? NIFT Gandhinagar answered with a resounding yes. The National Institute of Fashion Technology, Gandhinagar, celebrated Ganesh Chaturthi with an eco-friendly Ganesha idol, bringing together faith, creativity, design and environmental responsibility in a celebration that demonstrated how age-old traditions can evolve without losing their soul.

Students, faculty and staff participated enthusiastically in traditional prayers, rituals and campus decoration, with environmentally responsible materials adding a distinctive creative dimension to the festivities.

Prof. Dr. Sameer Sood, Director, NIFT Gandhinagar, emphasised the importance of celebrating India’s rich cultural heritage while remaining conscious of environmental sustainability.

The celebration reflected NIFT Gandhinagar’s distinctive ethos of integrating design, innovation, culture and sustainability—encouraging students to carry the principles of responsible creativity beyond the campus and into their professional and everyday lives.

The eco-friendly idol served as more than a festive centrepiece. It conveyed a larger message: celebration need not come at the cost of nature.

The initiative reinforced the philosophy of “tradition with responsibility”, showing that devotion can be expressed with joy and creativity while remaining respectful of the environment.

For a generation of young designers, the celebration offered an especially relevant lesson—the future of design lies not merely in creating something beautiful, but in creating something that respects the world in which it exists.
