What happens when traditional craftsmanship meets advanced, industry-aligned training—and young talent gets the opportunity to compete on the world stage? For two candidates trained in Ahmedabad, the answer is an international breakthrough: representing India at WorldSkills Shanghai 2026.
Pidilite Industries Limited, India’s leading manufacturer of adhesives, sealants and construction chemicals, is supporting Prakash Suthar and Pankaj Jangra, who have earned their place at the WorldSkills International Competition 2026 following strong performances at the IndiaSkills 2026 National Competition.
Both candidates were trained at the Pidilite Woodworking and Plumbing Centre for Advanced Skills (PWP), Ahmedabad, and are now preparing to take their expertise to Shanghai—putting the spotlight on the city’s role in developing skilled talent for international competition.

Ahmedabad’s skills pipeline reaches the global stage
The candidates will compete at the 48th WorldSkills Competition, scheduled to be held in Shanghai, China, from September 22 to 27, 2026. The event is expected to bring together more than 1,400 young skilled professionals from over 70 countries and regions, competing across 64 skill categories.
Their progression from national competition to the international platform places a spotlight on the importance of structured, practical training in trades that underpin construction, manufacturing and related industries.
Industry and academia join hands
Established in partnership with Kaushalya – The Skill University, Ahmedabad, PWP focuses on bridging the gap between traditional craftsmanship and changing industry requirements through advanced, hands-on training in woodworking and plumbing.
The centre’s approach reflects the growing emphasis on equipping learners with practical capabilities aligned with workplace needs, while opening pathways for skilled professionals to demonstrate their expertise beyond the local and national levels.
