Is India’s much-discussed rise merely an aspiration—or is it being converted into measurable structural change across the economy, institutions and everyday life?
That question formed the underlying theme as Chartered Accountant and policy practitioner CA Naresh Kella launched his book India: A Nation Rising: Building Today. Empowering Tomorrow at the Ahmedabad Management Association (AMA), ahead of its international showcase at the Frankfurter Buchmesse 2026.
Kella, drawing on his professional experience spanning finance, banking, trade, governance and public institutions, described the transformation underway across the country as both broad-based and rapid.
Responding to the question, “India’s Rise — Reality or Aspiration?”, and asked to identify the strongest measurable indicators of structural transformation as well as the challenges that could delay the trajectory, Kella said: “Our nation has undergone tremendous transformation in all sectors and now it is taking place in faster space.”
The remark captures the central premise of India: A Nation Rising—that the country’s transformation has to be assessed not merely through headline economic numbers but through changes in infrastructure, manufacturing, financial inclusion, technology, services, trade, institutions and the opportunities available to citizens.
From numbers to nation-building
The book seeks to examine India’s growth story through the perspective of a professional who has worked at the intersection of finance, business, policy and institutions.
Kella’s professional journey has included assignments connected with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, banking, trade and industry bodies, public-sector institutions and regulatory committees. His experience includes serving as an Independent Director of Power Finance Corporation, membership of the Gujarat State Fee Regulation Committee and leadership roles in trade and industry organisations.
The book therefore attempts to connect macroeconomic transformation with the realities experienced by businesses, professionals, entrepreneurs and ordinary citizens.
Its larger proposition is that India’s next phase will depend less on aspiration alone and more on the country’s ability to convert policy intent into sustained execution.
As Kella puts it, “India’s finest chapter will be written by those who connect vision with execution, ambition with discipline, and policy with results.”
That proposition also gives the book its forward-looking character: what has changed is important, but what India does with that change could prove even more consequential.
AI meets the Chartered Accountant
One of the most significant discussions at the launch centred on artificial intelligence and its implications for the accounting and financial ecosystem.
Asked how the role of Chartered Accountants would evolve in an AI-driven environment—and what the profession could contribute to India’s journey towards Viksit Bharat, particularly in financial transparency, governance, tax compliance, capital formation and strategic decision-making—Kella said:
“AI has been leaving its impression in all fields. And CAs are no exception. CAs have been playing their role of nation-builders to help India’s journey towards Viksit Bharat.”
The observation points to a changing professional landscape in which automation and AI may increasingly handle routine analytical and accounting functions, while professional judgment, interpretation, governance, assurance and strategic advice remain critical.
For a profession traditionally associated with accounts, audit and taxation, the AI era could consequently broaden rather than diminish the CA’s role—from validating numbers to helping institutions understand what those numbers mean and how they should influence decisions.
Ahmedabad’s infrastructure test
The discussion also touched upon infrastructure development in preparation for the 2030 Commonwealth Games in Ahmedabad.
Ahmedabad was officially confirmed as the host city for the Centenary Commonwealth Games at the Commonwealth Sport General Assembly in November 2025. Commonwealth Sport says the 2030 Games will feature 15–17 sports, with the host city and organisers working towards the event’s sporting and infrastructure requirements.
On the infrastructure preparations, Kella said: “The state government and all other stakeholders have been working in tandem to complete the much-needed infrastructures in time.”
The Commonwealth Games, therefore, represent more than a sporting event in the context of the book’s broader argument: they offer a real-time test of how effectively government, industry, civic institutions and other stakeholders can translate ambitious timelines into functioning infrastructure.
From Ahmedabad to Frankfurt
The Ahmedabad launch also marks the beginning of an international chapter for India: A Nation Rising.
The book is scheduled to be showcased at the Frankfurter Buchmesse 2026, which will be held from October 7 to 11. The world’s major publishing and content-industry gathering brings together authors, publishers, literary professionals and international rights and business representatives.
For Kella, the Frankfurt appearance provides an opportunity to place an Indian practitioner’s account of economic transformation before an international readership.
The book explores India’s changing economic landscape through themes including financial inclusion, infrastructure, healthcare, manufacturing, trade, entrepreneurship and the country’s aspirations for Viksit Bharat 2047.
Its central question, ultimately, is larger than the title itself: Can the momentum of a rising nation be converted into durable, inclusive and institutionally sustained progress?
For a country simultaneously embracing artificial intelligence, expanding infrastructure, deepening its financial ecosystem and preparing to host major global sporting events, the answer may depend on the same principle highlighted by Kella at the launch—the ability to turn vision into execution.
