What does it take to turn a few fleeting seconds on the track into a milestone worth celebrating? For Rishanvee Joshi, a Class XI-H student of Delhi Public School (DPS)–Bopal, Ahmedabad, the answer lies in speed, determination and the courage to compete—and win.

Rishanvee delivered a standout performance at the Gujarat State Junior Athletics Selection Meet 2026, held from October 3 to 5 at Shri Govind Guru University, Godhra, winning gold in the Under-18 girls’ 100m sprint and bronze in the 200m.

She stormed to the 100m gold in 12.14 seconds before securing bronze in the 200m with a timing of 25.98 seconds, underlining her ability to excel across both sprint distances.

Her double-medal performance has brought another significant reward: selection to represent Gujarat at the 41st National Junior Athletics Championships 2026, scheduled to be held at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Chennai, from October 23 to 27. The five-day national meet will feature competitions across the Under-14, Under-16, Under-18 and Under-20 categories, according to the Athletics Federation of India.

For the young sprinter, the selection marks an important step forward—from making her mark at the state level to testing her mettle against some of the country’s promising junior athletes.

Rishanvee’s achievement is also a reminder that sporting excellence is built through consistent effort, focus and the willingness to push personal boundaries. Her success offers encouragement to fellow students to pursue athletics alongside academics and discover the rewards of commitment and perseverance.

DPS–Bopal has congratulated Rishanvee on her remarkable achievement and wished her success at the national championship.

As she prepares for the Chennai challenge, the young athlete carries with her the pride of her school and state. The medals from Godhra are already a reason to celebrate; the national stage now offers her another opportunity to run faster, compete fearlessly and take the next stride in her athletic journey.
