Actor-producer and green activist Dia Mirza was conferred with ‘Woman of Style and Substance’ award at the sixth edition of Filmfare Glamour and Style Awards function held recently.
Dia epitomizes the perfect combination of beauty and brains as she uses her status to reach out to thousands of people and inspire them to be environmentally conscious. Transcending national and international borders with her passion and voice, she chooses to lead by example. Recognizing her dedication and commitment to society and the environment, Filmfare awarded her the ‘Woman of Style and Substance’ in the presence of all the who’s who of B-Town. Dia sure stood out as she accepted this award.
In her acceptance speech, Dia says, “This award reinstates my belief in the sustainable change I am hoping to create. I am thankful for all the support I have received on this journey. Now, more than ever, there is only one story that matters. One of Respect. The need to respect women, to lead by example and to be aware of the small things we do unknowingly every day of your lives that perpetuates misogyny. I want this Filmfare award to remind people that we are all KAAFIRS and Humanity is our Religion.”
She has been an environmental change-maker, a voice, and a torchbearer for causes related to nature. She has been an advocate against single-use plastic and campaigned with the United Nations on #BeatPlasticPollution in her role as a goodwill ambassador for the environment. With an added responsibility as an SDG advocate, Dia uses every chance she has to create awareness and inspire people. Her continued efforts towards a sustainable lifestyle have shown forth in her work as well.
