Ahmedabad City police were the first one to introduce home drop facility for women at odd hours. Following the Hyderabad and Unnao rape incidents, Ahmedabad Police through a tweet reminded the citizens about a service which drops women back home at nights.
Ahmedabad police on Friday tweeted: “In case any lady is out of her place of stay late at night and is unable to avail a taxi, auto, cab etc to reach her place of stay safely, then she may call the PCR by dialling 100 or 181. The PCR shall send its vehicle to safely drop the lady to her place of stay”.
Police officials said that this facility can be availed from 9 pm till 6 am. DIG (administration) Vipul Agarwal who retweeted the Ahmedabad Police tweet, said that this facility has been available since March 2018 and many women have used it. Police officials said that the service began under the Suraksha Setu initiative.
