South Korea-based KIA Motors and Aurabindo Pharma are the two companies that have announced to infuse more investment in Andhra Pradesh during the interaction session of the Brainstorming (Our Governance, Your Suggestion) held here on Thursday.

Immediately after Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy concluded his speech narrating the strengths of the state, its resources and the government policies, the floor was thrown open for industrialists, Trade Association representatives and heads of various MNCs to express their views. .

Kookhyn Shim, MD & CEO of KIA Motors has announced a further investment of 54 million dollars in the automobile unit at Ananthapur. He further said that the company has given training under skill development to 2,416 workers besides creating employment to 1585 persons. He said that AP has all the qualifications to be a foreign investment hub. The investor looks for quick disposal of files and permissions and the State has been proactive, he said.

Madan Mohan Reddy, Board Director Aurabindo Pharma said that his company will invest Rs 1,500 crores to RS 2,000 crores in the coming two years.

Aurabindo has already invested Rs 3,000 cores in the State and has created employment to 10,000 persons.

In the coming two years the company will invest Rs 1,500 crores to Rs 2,000 crores in the state. There is no power shortage in the state which is a plus point for us. We need skilled labor and if skill development is part of the curriculum from Intermediate onwards that would be helpful, he said.

Josh Foulger, Country head, Foxconn and Ravindara Sanna Reddy of Sri City also spoke.

Vasireddy Muralikrishan, President of Federation of State MSMEs thanked the Chief Minister for helping the sector in the tough times of COVID.

A close tie-up with agriculture and industry in needed for better opportunities, he said and quoted the example dehydration plants for onion which the state lacks while the market is dominated by Gujarat and Maharashtra which have the units.

Others who spoke on the occasion have lauded the State initiatives and said that they are looking forward for more opportunities in their chosen fields.
