The Tamil Nadu Government will soon receive 500 MT of onions from the central pool and they will be sold at a cheaper price at all the farm fresh shops across the districts, said the State Food Minister C. Kamaraj here on Tuesday.
Addressing reporters in Tiruvarur, the minister said that the state had demanded 100 MT from the centre, but the union government has released 500 MT of onion during the first phase. These onions will be made available from over 6,000 farm fresh shops by December 13 or 14.
Kamaraj added that onion is being sold at Rs. 40 per kg in all the farm fresh stores.
