The International Yoga Day was celebrated at the Institute of Kidney Diseases and Research Centre (IKDRC) here on Sunday within the confines of COVID wards, a hospital release said.
“There is no medicine to kill coronavirus infection but the immune system could be strengthened with help of yoga and Pranayam,” said Dr Viral Trivedi, Anesthesiologist at IKDRC. He further added that yoga helps in improving respiratory functions and lungs which helps fight coronavirus infection.
Dr Trivedi and his team members dressed in PPE kits entered the wards and helped all COVID patients under treatment to perform yoga, Dhyan, Pranayam, and Sudarshan Kriya which will improve the breathing quality.
“Everybody thinks yoga is about asanas but it also about breathing exercises and relaxation techniques,” Dr Trivedi added.
On the occasion of International Yoga Day, IKDRC conducted several yoga sessions in batches for COVID -19 infected patients to help them perform breathing exercise as per individual physical capacity.
