Gujarat retains numero uno position again, pares  ‘Unemployment Ratio’ from 4.5 % to 3.4%

Gujarat has brought down the Unemployment Ratio (UR) from 4.5% last year to 3.4% this year, the lowest in the country for the second consecutive year, according to a recent document of ‘Periodic Labour Force Survey’.

The achievement of current year’s UR of 3.4% was the result of several measures taken for the industrial growth in Gujarat by Chief Minister Vijaybhai Rupani. The measures taken by the state government included encouragement to industries, including MSME sector, transparent policies, prompt loan assistance, labour reforms, steps taken for simplifying the procedures for setting up of industries in Gujarat and others. Last year the unemployment ratio was 4.5 %.
This survey is conducted by the National Statistical Office of Ministry of Statistics & Programme Implementation, Government of India.
According to the survey, Gujarat has taken the top position with 3.4 % Unemployment Ratio in the age group of 15-59 in the urban areas.
It should be noted here that Gujarat has broken its own previous record of the lowest unemployment ratio.
Last year too, Gujarat was the topper with the lowest unemployment ratio of 4.5 %.
Compared to Gujarat, the unemployment ratio in Karnataka was 5.3%, followed by Maharashtra 6.6%, Tamil Nadu 7.2%, Andhra Pradesh 7.8%, Haryana 9%, Kerala 11% and Telangana 11.5%, respectively.
