Gujarat reported 1,078 new coronavirus positive cases on Sunday, taking the total in the state to 71,064, the health department said.

The number of patients, who succumbed to COVID-19, rose to 2,654 with 25 new fatalities on Sunday, it said.
The number of recovered patients grew to 54,138 as 1,311 of them were given discharge.

With this, there are now 14,272 active cases in Gujarat, of which the condition of 73 patients is critical, the department said in a release.
Surat reported the highest number of 222 new cases in the state on Sunday, taking the district tally to 15,810.

Ahmedabad’s count rose to 17,898 with 153 new cases and its death toll grew to 11,633 with three more fatalities.
Surat also reported the highest number of nine fatalities and 589 recoveries on Sunday.
The death toll in Surat rose to 687 and the number of recovered cases to 12,597.
Rajkot reported five deaths, Vadodara three, Kutch two, and Junagadh and Mehsana one death each.
Vadodara reported 110 new positive cases, Rajkot 95, Jamnagar 63, Panchmahal 47, Amreli and Bhavnagar 35 each, Gir Somnath 32, Bharuch 28, Junagadh 27, Kutch 25, Valsad 21, Dahod and Surendranagar 18 each, Kheda, Mehsana and Patan 11 each, Botad, Narmada and Sabarkantha 10 each, among others.
The state has achieved a recovery rate of 76.18 percent.
In the last 24 hours, 30,985 tests were conducted in the state, at the rate of 476.69 tests per day per million.
A total of 9,87,630 samples have been tested for coronavirus so far, it said.
COVID-19 figures are as follows: Positive cases 71,064, new cases 1,078, deaths 2,654, discharged 54,138, active cases 14,272 and people tested so far 9,87,630.

Ahmedabad count rises by 153 to 27,898; 3 die
The COVID-19 tally in Ahmedabad district reached 27,898 on Sunday with the addition of 153 new cases, the Gujarat health department said.
With three deaths in the day, the toll mounted to 1,633, it said.
A total of 106 patients were discharged in the day, including 99 in the city and 7 in rural areas, taking the number of recovered cases in the district to 22,499.
138 of the 153 fresh cases were reported from Ahmedabad city while 15 cases were found in rural areas, as per the department.
All three fatalities were reported from the city.

Meanwhile, the Ahmedabad civic body on Sunday sealed Central Mall in the city for allegedly flouting social distancing guidelines.
The civic body had earlier initiated similar action against another mall and some establishments.
The number of COVID-9 cases in rural areas now stand at 1,420 and that of recoveries at 1,250, the district Panchayat said, adding that 58 people have died so far.

222 new cases in Surat; nine die, 589 recover
Surat reported 222 new coronavirus positive cases, highest in Gujarat on Sunday, that pushed the overall tally in the district to 15,810, the state health department said.
Surat also reported nine fatalities, also the highest in the state on the day, which took the toll to 687, it said.
The district reported the recovery of 589 patients, which took the number of discharged persons to 12,597, the health department said in its release.
A total of 3,239 patients are under treatment for COVID-19 in Surat, the district health officials said.
As many as 178 new cases were reported in the city and 44 in the rural parts of the district.
Out of the total 15,810 confirmed cases in the district, 12,705 have been reported in the city area, and 3,105 in the rural parts.
Also, five out of nine deaths were reported in Surat city.
The death toll in Surat city rose to 545, and in the rural parts, it went up to 142, the officials said.
As per the Surat civic body, a total of 30,829 patients have been quarantined.
The number of people quarantined in rural parts of the district is 5,087, the officials said.
