The number of coronavirus cases in Gujarat rose to 76,569 on Friday with 1,087 new patients being reported since previous evening, the health department said.

Fifteen coronavirus patients died during this period in the state, taking the death toll to 2,748, it said.
1,071 patients were discharged from different hospitals in the state, taking the total of recovered cases to 59,522.
There are 14,299 active cases now, eleven less than Thursday’s count.
Since Thursday evening, five persons died in Surat district, followed by four in Ahmedabad, two each in Jamnagar and Rajkot, and one each in Gandhinagar and Vadodara.
On the other hand, 247 patients recovered in Ahmedabad district, followed by 204 in Surat and 184 in Vadodara.
The health department release said that Gujarat’s recovery rate now stands at 77.72 percent.
As many as 51,225 tests were conducted during the day, taking the per million average to 788.07.
So far, 12,11,047 tests have been conducted in Gujarat.
With 1,087 new coronavirus patients, Gujarat was in the 14th spot in the country in terms of daily increase.
Of these, 232 cases were from the Surat district, followed by Ahmedabad with 161 new cases.

232 new coronavirus cases in Surat
The tally of coronavirus cases in Surat district rose to 17,028 on Friday with 232 new patients being reported since previous evening, the Gujarat Health Department said.
The district again reported the highest single-day spike in cases in Gujarat.
Surat’s tally of 17,028 cases was second highest after Ahmedabad which has recorded 28,678 coronavirus cases so far.
Of 232 new cases, 168 cases were from Surat city while 64 cases were from rural parts of the district.
While four coronavirus patients from the city died in the last 24 hours, one fatality was recorded from the rural areas, taking the death toll in the district so far to 720.
204 patients were given discharge, taking the total of recovered cases in the district to 12,947, the release said.

161 new cases in Ahmedabad, 4 deaths, 247 recover
As many as 161 new coronavirus cases were reported in Ahmedabad on Friday, taking the case tally to 28,678 in the district, said the Gujarat health department.
149 new cases were from Ahmedabad city while 12 cases were from other parts of the district, it said.
With the death of four COVID-19 patients since Thursday evening, the death toll in the district reached 1,652.
247 patients were discharged from hospitals in the district on Friday, highest in the state, taking the total of recovered coronavirus patients to 23,520, the release added.
232 of the patients who were discharged on Friday were from the city, rest from rural areas.
Of 2,748 COVID-19 deaths recorded in Gujarat so far, Ahmedabad district accounts for 1,652 deaths.
Of the total 28,678 cases registered in Ahmedabad district so far, 27,189 were from the city.
