Puducherry’s COVID-19 caseload raised to 7,355 on Saturday with 369 more people testing positive to the virus while the death toll stood at 106.
Puducherry region accounted for a big chunk of cases in the Union Territory during last 24 hours ending 10 am on Saturday registering 317 fresh infections on a single day.
Director of Health and Family Welfare S Mohan Kumar said in a release that 369 new cases were identified after examination of 1,089 samples during last 24 hours. He said that 3025 cases were active, while 4,224 patients recovered and were discharged so far. However, no deaths were reported during the last 24 hours, he added.
The identification of 369 cases projected the rate of positivity here at 33.88 percent while fatality and recovery rates were 1.44 percent and 57.43 percent respectively.
The health department has tested so far 53,503 samples and found 44,714 to be negative. Results of examination of remaining samples were awaited, the Director added.
